I mean, I already explain in detail why I think Lena deserves to win for “The Bells” in this article (https://www.goldderby.com/article/2019/emmy-spotlight-lena-headey-game-of-thrones-cersei-lannister-killed/), but I just want to add that she’s just one of those actresses who can sell a performance without uttering a single word. I mean, the Walk of Shame in the season 5 finale is just a masterclass in acting, as is her coronation scene in “The Winds of Winter.” She was always such a presence that even when she wasn’t onscreen, she was still somehow there.

I’m back to thinking Lena will win. She’s established herself enough in the industry so that people know her well enough. However, campaigning definitely couldn’t hurt her. I know she suffers from social anxiety so campaigning isn’t an easy thing to do for her and I get that. The people thinking Maisie Williams is ahead of her…well, she’s not. Maisie has done absolutely NO campaigning so far and is purely relying on HBO for that win and they are not doing a very good job. She’s not big enough in the industry to not campaign and she’s nowhere. She hasn’t done very much besides Game of Thrones. The other actresses, Sophie Turner included, have at least gotten their feet wet in the industry. It seems like Christie is still the only actress campaigning in the SA category after I updated the list today. Actually, from Game of Thrones only Gwendoline Christie, Alfie Allen, and Kit Harington are actively campaigning.

Even Lena’s Instagram posts are award-worthy. She’s iconic.

Oscar FYC - Lupita Nyong'o & Elisabeth Moss ("Us") - Best Actress & Supporting Actress. It must happen; otherwise the Tethered are coming.

Darlings, Lena Headey is finally winning and those who don’t see it are blind. I saw it in my dream last night. And she thanked me in her speech, as she should.

I am into heavy alcohol-induced prophetic dreams. So…

Who else is winning? Will boobs fall out? I know yours will, but what about celebrity boobs?

My reaction to montana82’s hate thread towards a potential Jones win that got deleted:

“No user starts this shady” - someone culturally relevant.

Also got banned because...reasons? So, I guess ciao.

You obviously haven’t been keeping up with the campaign trail…The winners that didn’t campaign are already known to the academy and are comfortable in their position knowing they don’t have to. It’s dumb to think campaigning doesn’t matter for the lesser-known actors and actresses, plain and simple.

Rachel, I love your posts and I have given likes to almost all of them, but I completely disagree. There are so many lesser-known winners that have done zero campaigning, it is ridiculous how many are they (the firs ones popping in my head are Merritt Wever, Riz Ahmed, Tatiana Maslany, Rami Malek, Matthew Rhys, both male winners for O.J. Simpson and many more)… Also, this argument that veterans do not need to campaign is very illogical and contradicting, if going to talk shows is so important, then it doesn’t make sense that 90% of Emmy winners never do it.

And like I already explained, doing talk shows publicity for a new movie is not an Emmy campaign and is very different from Oscars campaigning…

The inevitable lost of Headey is going to shut down this forum, it will be an unforgettable spectacle.

    Gonna sing it again here!

In Cherry Jones nominated episode (an orphaned episode which HULU gamed the system to get nominated) she has TWO scenes. A 90 second scene with Moss and Wiley. And a 50 second scene where Moss gives birth. 2 and a half minutes of screen time. She is 2nd in the odds. This potential win would be at the level of Margo Martindale in The Americans.

Darlings, I’m glad Lena Headey is getting the love she deserves for her iconic performance as Cersei Lannister. The question is: Can GoldDerby have an interview with her? I would die to watch it!!! Additionally, she’s a really funny person.

Of the GoT actors (both male and female) Emilia is the last person who actually NEEDS to go out and campaign (having close to 25 million followers on Instagram says a lot) but I still wish she’d go out and show her face. She has a good chance of winning but it wouldn’t hurt her to do one or two interviews.

Maybe she will be on the night shows to promote the movie in the next months, so GoT is not something she’d like to talk about much. It pains me to see those interviews at the Emmys last year when she is like “best season evuuur”. What a warning if there was ever one

I think she is chilling at the moment. The people’s champion!

I really respect you and I mean that because we are both massive A Song of Ice and Fire nerds but I’m still going to disagree and agree. I see your point that some win without campaigning but I just think SOME of those nominees need to campaign and it doesn’t hurt them.

Oh yes she does if she wants to beat Sandra Oh! Come on.

This is the second time you’ve acted like this so I just wanna say that you may not enjoy talking about Thrones but there are others who do. If you don’t have anything to add to the conversation or don’t have anything else to talk about then you shouldn’t have a problem if other people do. You can just ignore them.
