I always agreed with the popular consensus that Jaime should’ve been the one to kill Cersei. Arya was my next choice, but she was a very distant second place. You know you screwed up someone’s character development when you literally ignore the prophecy saying he’s gonna kill his sister. I realize the prophecy only says a brother will do it, but since Tyrion already killed Tywin, it would feel wrong for him to kill the other villainous Lannister, especially when killing Cersei would’ve been a perfect ending for Jaime’s arc of redemption.
Also, I didn’t suggest Arya should’ve died for Jon’s arc. I don’t approve of killing characters just so it can develop other characters. There needs to be another reason to kill them off, and I think her eath woud’ve made the overall narrative stronger. I suggested she should’ve due to a combination of the fact that it would help show what a huge threat the White Walkers were, and because she had nothing to do in the second half of this year’s season. The fact that barely any named characters died against the White Walkers made them seem so much less threatening in hindsight. The only main character to die was Theon(I believe Jorah’s a secondary character. He’s an important role and he’s been in the show since the first season, but he’s also always been a supporting character to other people’s story lines). I think a lot of other people should’ve died, Arya just so happens to be the most important character of them all.August 17, 2019 at 1:02 pm #1203028107
Also, I realize I’m probably starting too many conversations about Game of Thrones’ narrative on this page, so I’ll try to hold off on starting anymore.August 17, 2019 at 1:06 pm #1203028113
Yeah since all we talk about here is GoT we might aswell rename the thread to Razzie Awards 2019 since it’s the ceremony GoT s8 deserves to be nominated at.August 17, 2019 at 1:10 pm #1203028117
There’s really nothing to talk about with the drama races unless we wanna just keep repeating ourselves about lead and supporting actress. Can’t we just let the conversation goes where it goes? Considering that GOT is gonna dominate the emmys this year, it’s not that off topic to basically turn the drama thread into a 2nd GOT thread.

Depends on how you mean ‘dominate’ because it’s not winning Supporting Actress.
She’s winning. See you September 22nd.
FYI I just entered full stan/campaign mode.

I think GOT is a lock for series (it really doesn’t deserve it, but none of the other nominees are popular enough to overcome it) and Peter Dinklage in supporting actor(I’d personally prefer Waldau or Banks, but I won’t deny that Dinklage’s performance completely elevated his material). I also believe Miguel Sapochnik will deservingly win for his direction of The Long Night. I think the show’s popularity won’t be enough for D&D to win writing though. They’ve done good work in the past, but the script to season 8 was controversial to say the least, and almost everyone agrees that they don’t deserve to win. I doubt they’ll win the leading categories, as the love for Sandra Oh and her overall narrative is too strong, and Jon Snow did pretty much nothing this year. I also don’t believe they’ll take supporting actress. Turner’s somewhat of a non factor in this race, but I’ve heard too much support for Headey, Williams, and Christie for me to honestly think they won’t split the vote.August 17, 2019 at 2:45 pm #1203028206
I miss that year where The Emmys were in August.August 17, 2019 at 2:52 pm #1203028210
Who’s gonna watch this anyway, after they fucked up the nominationsAugust 17, 2019 at 2:58 pm #1203028215
The easiest thing do to is not use your head, say “it doesn’t make sense” and not even try… if you will treat this season like every other show you watch and not watch it with this anti in mind you’ll see it pretty much makes sense.
It doesn’t. Accept it.August 17, 2019 at 3:05 pm #1203028217
I feel like we’ve seen this stanning with Headey all four times she’s lost lol. She’s not winning, in fact it’s possible she’s never have been farther from the win that she is this year. I think at this point the only way I’d predict her is if Game of Thrones just wins literally everything it can at creative arts.

Well you can find pretty good explanations for all of it all over the internet, if you choose to close your eyes and ignore all that it’s something else.. as I said, much easier, requires much less effort and also that’s the “thing” now, so it’s always better to just alignAugust 17, 2019 at 3:49 pm #1203028260
I love Headey, but she doesn’t deserve to win this year. She did the best she could with her material, but she was barely in this season. At the same time, I wouldn’t mind a win for her previous work on the show. But if anyone from Game of Thrones deserves to win supporting actress based on the work they did this year, it’s Gwendolyn Christie.
