Pose would probably be the merit pick but their lack of director or really any significant support gives me pause. Succession maybe? GOT will honestly probably do it despite casting like two new characters this season.

Isn’t Casting always the same winner as Directing? Probably Succession or GoT

FYC: Lena Headey ("Game of Thrones") for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, Miguel Sapochnik (“Game of Thrones”) for Outstanding Directing in a Drama Series

    What’s winning Casting?

I think Casting is such a significant aspect of Pose’s success that this might be one of those cases where it wins it despite not having a shot at series.

If Succession wins, I’ll predict it for Directing.

If Thrones wins, it is sweeping.

If GoT wins casting it might still split the vote at the Directing category, but if Succession wins casting, yeah its winning directing 100%

I don’t think a directing winner has to win casting as well. I’m sure GoT was losing casting last year no matter what, similar to this year. Pose could totally win this, but I think Succession has this in the bag.

Game of Thrones shouldn’t win casting this year. To be honest, they shouldn’t have won after miscasting the Dornish girls and Euron Greyjoy.

I actually think Pilou Asbæk gave a good performance as Euron. It just so happens that the character was written poorly. He wasn’t particularly impressive in seasons 6 and 7, but he showed some potential. Then he became absolutely unbearable in season 8. I think Asbæk did the best he could, and in different hands, Euron Greyjoy could’ve been much, much worse. The three actresses playing the Sand Snakes gave awful performances, but to be fair, Meryl Streep, Katherine Hepburn, and Vivienne Leigh couldn’t have made those lines work. Maybe they could’ve done better with stronger material,  but who knows. The only decent scenes they were ever in were in were when Olenna verbally curb stomped them, Euron butchered two of them, and Cersei poisoned the last one.

It’s not gonna matter, and this post is purely due to overthinking and the same thoughts being recycled since nominations, but I think Killing Eve is for sure second in the drama race. It over-performed above the line and got the necessary creative arts nods (casting and editing), and Shaw’s nomination is a small indicator that it has more visibility/support among actors than BCS, This is Us, or Pose. Plus, Phoebe really is the star of the season, the belle of the ball, and though most attention is centered around Fleabag, hardly an interview passes that doesn’t mention her contention in both comedy and drama series. I think there’s also a chance the Academy is behind and thinks the show is still the cool thing to vote for. If it takes any major surprises at Creative I’ll probably predict it at Drama series even though I know GOT is winning, just to put up a fight.

I am still gonna sell my Jodie and Emilia Emmy winner t-shirts.

They do come with a wig and a little urn containing the ashes of your enemies, respectively. Limited time only.

Could we just have an upset in the major categories this year? It definitely made last Oscars more exciting.

I love Game of Thrones. I mean I really love it. Even with such a shitty ending, it’s still one of my favorite shows. But season 8 was one of the most disappointing things I’ve ever seen.

I think EsOS may have not disliked the last season so much for many reasons, and it was also binge watching.

One of the traumatizing things of the finale was the mind rape for many fans who watched it for years and had been invested in so many cool theories.

KE’s universe is so much smaller compared to GOT, but I never wanted to throw out my TV while watching KE season 1 as opposed as last May 5-19 (fuck! Even I can’t seem to forget those dates 😭)

I disliked season 8 (though probably not as much as anyone else here) but absolutely hated Killing Eve lol.

The fact that I didn’t invest a decade of my life on this show definitely made the finale less disappointing for me and the separation between each season is kinda blurred
