A Black Lady Sketch Show is fantastic. It deserves to be nominated for variety sketch series and would be a far better winner than SNL.

For Your GoldDerby Decade Awards Consideration:

Downton Abbey in Series, Supporting Actress and Ensemble. Glee in Supporting Actress, Guest Actor and Guest Actress.

I just wanted to say I just finished The Boys on Amazon, and know it won’t be anywhere in contention, but I thought it was an excellent, nuanced take on the superhero genre. The fact they have something new to say about “superheroes” says a lot about the quality of the show. Anyways, carry on.

Seriously. The Boys deserves to be major contender, based on quality alone. I know it won’t be but we can pray.

I would hope Amazon pushes The Expanse primarily, then The Boys.

Oh I absolutely see Adam Scott crashing the supporting actor lineup. Whether BLL was ultimately well-regarded or not, the acting branch will go crazy for it, and he will benefit from the typical sophomore season bump. Plus, he had an actual arc in season 2 and gave a solid performance. Also, bet against Regina King at your own peril; I see Watchmen being a hit, and King doesn’t even need it to be a hit to get nominated. This next year will be exciting.

I’m afraid BLL will suffer a similar fate as Sharp object this year… I know it was a major winner in the past but it aired much too early and waning talked-about enough for them to remember it next year, especially with such a strong competition lineup. It sounds weird now but then again I was extremely surprised with the lack of support Sharp Objects got

I think Big Little Lies will do good in the acting categories but yeah I don’t know about the rest.

In an ideal world there would be a Barry-Veep like trade-off between Succession and BLL but we don’t live in an ideal world.

    Episode 4 is breathtaking.

In an ideal world, The Boys would be a major player for

    • Drama Series
    • Drama Lead Actor (Karl Urban)
    • Drama Lead Actress (Erin Moriarty)
    • Drama Supporting Actor (Anthony Starr)
    • Drama Guest Actress (Brittany Allen)

    At minimum.

From Time’s magazine article about Ryan Murphy:

“He’s editing Ratched, a moody origin story about One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest’s Nurse Ratched, starring Sarah Paulson. (The show is a disturbing midcentury tone poem set on the California coast, with a scene-stealing supporting performance by Sharon Stone.)”

Stone coming back for the Emmy nom that she was robbed of for Mosaic.

“No user starts this shady” - someone culturally relevant.

The competition really is going to be insane next year.
