“Project Runway” missing out for its stunning Bravo upgrade is really bad on the Academy’s part. “Nailed It!” is not a suitable replacement by any means.

Never heard of “Tidying Up” or “The World’s Best,” so I’ll have to go and look those up now.

    Lol @ The Amazing Race

The fact that HOMECOMING got a WRITING nomination (when all the dialogue is interludes) is a testament to show that they really liked it. Beyoncé isn’t a lock but I can pretty much bet that she’s winning at least one (Music Direction).

So somebody over at RuPaul made Michelle Visage a producer. I think that’s cool. I don’t really want the show to win for this terrible 11th season (and obviously it will, so will Ru as host), but I’ll be glad if it does to see Visage with her very much deserved Emmy. She was also made a producer of All Stars this past season.

This will be the first year after 16 consecutive nominations that “The Amazing Race” will not be nominated, as it is taking an extended hiatus and will not qualify for 2019 Emmy eligibility.

Even though the Goldderby article says May 22nd, apparently it debuted in April. With only 4 episodes airing after the cutoff date.

Wait a minute. Beyonce, from Destiny’s Child and Beyonce, actually, seriously, really, you’re not fucking kidding me right now with this, got a WRITING nomination BY HERSELF? Is this true? Did she finally write something on her own?

What the fuck is going on this year? How many more things am I gonna find on that nominations list?

I’m really surprised Frances McDormand missed out on that easy narrating nomination.

The comedy nominations were inspired and the limited ones were pretty good too, but so many of these other races really could have benefited from some kind of judging process. Far too many shows have series nominations and nothing else just because they get checked off because people watched them years ago and they have to fill their program ballots with something because there are so many program categories. The individual achievement categories do a better job avoiding filler because they often combine genres (sketch plus talk, reality plus nonfiction and so on).

    Other observations:
    – James Corden’s team once again kills it with awards strategy. The main show only has three nominations and it missed writing, directing and editing. But The Late Show franchise has eleven total nominations this year spread across four different programs. That is more than Last Week Tonight.
    – It sometimes takes them a year, so Nailed It! breaks into series, but the Fab Five still miss. The issue must be just that there are so many of them.
    – Glad that my Marie Kondo prediction paid off. She was such a long shot that I had to request for her to be added to the predictions centre.
    – Remember last year when Parts Unknown swept because people the show was over, so people thought that they were voting for the final season? Surprise, it is back with six nominations! It is like what happened when Jon Stewart left The Daily Show, so he swept for his final season, except it was not technically his final season for which he was competing, due to the Emmy eligibility timeline. That team was satisfied though and did not submit again, like what The Handmaid’s Tale originally said they were going to do this year.
    – I was excited for Who is America? to threaten Saturday Night Live, but not only did the former miss writing, but it missed for Saturday Night Live somehow managing to hold onto its nomination there.
Drunk History and Documentary Now! kind of exploded this year, which is cool, but this gets at the Game of Thrones dilemma of there not being a single clear alternative. Like the challenging dramas, Documentary Now! and Who is America? also missed key acting nominations.
    – How is Leaving Neverland a “special” if it has multiple parts (that cumulatively span four hours)?
Free Solo obviously gets seven nominations, but the jury that decided its program category snubbed it. Love the pettiness.

    https://www.goldderby.com/article/2019/the-amazing-race-season-31-not-emmy-eligible-what-should-replace/

This will be the first year after 16 consecutive nominations that “The Amazing Race” will not be nominated, as it is taking an extended hiatus and will not qualify for 2019 Emmy eligibility.

As somebody else pointed out, this article was written under the assumption that the season would premiere in mid-May. When Million Dollar Mile was pulled from its Wednesday timeslot (it is currently being burned off on Saturdays), CBS moved TAR’s premiere to April, so it has enough episodes in the eligibility period.

    Jane Lynch snubbed lol

Actually, she got nominated, for The Marvelous Mrs. Maizel. As for Hollywood Game Night, according to The Futon Critic, it’s not too surprising, as only three episodes – one in November, a Christmas episode, and the Red Nose Day episode in May – aired in the eligibility period.

And here’s a show I’ve never heard of that got a nomination – “Got Ham”? Is that some Food Network show? Oh, wait…it’s Gotham. Somebody needs to get the Television Academy some better PDF creating software; anything with a “th” in it is almost impossible to find in a search.

I am thrilled that At Home With Amy Sedaris is nominated for Outstanding Variety Sketch Series and it would get my vote

I just realized that Delta Work did not get nominated for Hairstyling for RuPaul’s Drag Race and that Raven was nominated for Outstanding Make-Up as well for RuPaul’s Drag Race. Mmmmmm

Can we talk about how Bojack Horseman FINALLY got nominated in Best Animated Program? This has been a long time coming.

Yeah, Netflix finally managed to break into the Animated Program category. But The Simpsons is still getting nominated? Give me a break.

If you’re talking about the Beyonce special (and, by TV, you mean the main broadcast), then, based on the Academy’s past history, the answer appears to be, “None of them will be.” Keep in mind that the two nights of the Creative Arts ceremony will be edited into a two-hour broadcast on FXX on 9/21.

It’s also possible that they might decide to move the Variety Special Writing and/or Directing categories to the main broadcast, in part because Beyonce is nominated. We probably won’t know this until September. (Normally, Variety Special Writing & Directing are part of the main ceremony in even-numbered years, and Variety Series Writing & Directing are in odd-numbered years.)
