Er, I suggested that they “could” do it, not “will” – and I stopped guessing what the Academy was going to do with categories when they moved Choreography to the main broadcast one year.

The list of categories for each night has been announced, and, to no one’s surprise, Variety Special Writing and Directing will be part of the Creative Arts ceremony (on the first night, which seems to be the “pretty much everything that does not have a comedy/drama series or limited series/movie nominated in it” night this year).

In fact, all four of Beyonce’s categories (Variety Special Writing, Variety Special Directing, Music Direction, and Pre-Recorded Variety Special) will be given out on Saturday 9/14. There is usually a “live as it happens” chat somewhere on GoldDerby, but they don’t show any part of the ceremony.

John Oliver is such a name check it’s ridiculous. He needs to stop winning, he’s barely even on TV. Jimmy Kimmel has been so sexist to his guests lately (watch his Gemma Chan interview) he should NOT be nominated. He doesn’t know how to interview women. Seth Meyers should have gotten the nomination over him. He’s by far the best interviewer of the late-night hosts.

At least Seth has been getting writing nominations for a while now, which means someone is at least paying attention. But yes, Late Night should absolutely be competing for series

As long as James Corden loses I will be happy. He’s fooled American’s with his whole “nice guy” persona. He’s not. I know people that have worked for him that said he was a complete nightmare. He’s a phony that lives his career by copying others from the UK (Graham Norton, Jonathan Ross) then coming to the US and claiming his ideas are 100% original. People in the UK know how big of a piece of work he is. He’s even attended a WGA meeting that demanded LOWER PAY for late-night writers who are already paid below of what they should be making…none of the other late-night hosts did that, just him.
