Zendaya is definitely a lock for a Golden Globe nomination at the very least. I could see the show also being nominated at the Globes if reviews continue to be strong and it creates a lot of buzz. I would personally LOVE for Z to get an Emmy nomination next year a la Claire Danes for My So-Called Life.
Shes not getting in over Regina king.June 6, 2019 at 12:10 pm #1202926077
100% on Rotten Tomatoes with 5 reviews for now. Everyone is praising Zendaya so definitely looking forward to this.June 6, 2019 at 7:08 pm #1202926580
Zendaya, you really should stick to modelling, honey, or whatever it is that you do.
“An early career-defining performance from Zendaya, who is an absolute revelation here… Zendaya displays a surprisingly acute ability to be instantly grounded and real… It’s an exceptional performance.” – The Hollywood Reporter
“A haunting, painful, and affecting performance from its star, Zendaya… Zendaya is exceptional at every turn. She adds heartbreaking levity to moments when her spiraling teenager feels invincible instead of fragile, and the way she carries herself, narrates each story, and generally handles the weight of leading a series are all as endearing as they are commanding.” – IndieWire
“The silver lining here is that Zendaya is turning in her best performance yet, shining fearless honesty in her character’s darkest moments.” – Refinery29
“Zendaya masterfully and powerfully leads this brutal and emotional depiction of 2019 teenage life, obliterating her Disney image while delivering what is sure to be among the best performances on television in 2019… She’s commanding in this moment and deserves respect for her performance… She’s doing things that no one else is doing on television right now.” – Shadow and Act
And the raves keep on coming for all the haters out there 😉June 6, 2019 at 7:09 pm #1202926582
Drake was promoting this so the show has to be bad.June 7, 2019 at 11:40 pm #1202927890This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.June 16, 2019 at 9:06 am #1202940439This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.June 16, 2019 at 7:55 pm #1202940909
Visually, this show is stunning. It’s definitely tough to watch, but I thought it was a solid premiere. Zendaya was definitely fantastic.June 16, 2019 at 8:38 pm #1202940945
I am 100% on board after watching the premiere. Zendaya deserve all of the awards for this episode alone. Her performance was absolutely incredible and kept me hooked the whole way through.
It’s definitely gonna be controversial, but as a 20 year old myself, I can honestly tell you I didn’t find a lot of the scenes shocking. This is a true representation of how life is in today’s culture.June 16, 2019 at 9:39 pm #1202940992
I actually loved this lol. It’s verrrry much in line with today’s culture, which is scary because of a lot of the stuff that went on just in one episode. Zendaya, to my surprise, was pretty great. Couldn’t take my eyes off of her whenever she was on screen. I know it’s only been one episode, but this seems way too out there to be an awards player. Could easily see it turning people off, but I could see it being a big hit with people around my age (21).June 16, 2019 at 11:14 pm #1202941067
Yeah this was good. Zendaya is great, so was the actress playing Jules. I want to see more of Sydney Sweeney.
I understand the whole point of the show is that it’s an unflinching look at modern adolescence, but the nudity rubs me as a bit voyeuristic. The actors are obviously above the age of their characters, but still a little nervous about that.
The show was gorgeous to look at, and despite the disturbing subject matter didn’t feel like it was too heavy to sit through at all, the light moments balanced it all nicely.
