I’ve been meaning to start this thread for a while. What are your personal favorite tv shows and performances that you feel were Emmy-worthy, but were not even submitted for consideration on the nominating ballot?

For me, the CW not submitting David Anders for Drama Supporting Actor for IZombie’s masterful 2nd season as well refusing to submit the show for Writing and Directing that year is inexcusable. The show also wasn’t even submitted for Directing for Season 1, when Michael Fields’ directing of the finale “Blaine’s World” would have been a deserving winner that year in my opinion.

Here are the Emmy nominating ballots from the past few years that I could find for you all to look over and see which shows/performances you enjoyed that sadly never even had a chance at Emmy recognition.

On a note unrelated to what I myself loved, I know a lot of Hannibal fans who were PISSED that Hugh Dancy and Gillian Anderson weren’t even submitted for the final season of the show. I just double-checked to be sure and indeed they were not, though Dancy was submitted for The Path and Anderson was submitted for The X-Files in Lead, so its not like they were left off the ballot entirely that year.

Well, you already mentioned it. I thought Gillian Anderson was the best supporting actress in a drama of the year, and she wasn’t even submitted. Criminal.

Indira Varma for Game of Thrones season 7. Undeniable performance IMO, very similar to Alex Bledel’s performance in THT.

Hardhome was not submitted for directing I believe, which is criminal.

Just this year, Syfy chose not to nominate anybody from The Expanse, pretty much the best sci-fi show on TV right now, in front or behind the camera. They’re gonna have to do the job themselves if they want to be considered.

Hardhome was submitted, it just wasn’t nominated. Also, I don’t think Varma had her best material this season. 5 and 6 were far superior material to work with. A genuinely deserving Guest star for Game of Thrones who wasn’t even submitted for Season 6 was Ian McShane, who obviously would have been nominated seeing as how the show did better in acting nods that year, with Harington and Williams finally making the cut for their roles.

Raising Hope for comedy and writing series. I loved this show. I thought it was really well written and acted. I know Martha Plimpton was nominated for an Emmy in RH first year, but I would have loved to see her be nominated more often. I also loved Garrett Dillahunt. He should have been nominated at least once during the shows 4 year run.

I used to love Law and Order: SVU. I was glued to it during years 6-8. Can’t believe it was never nominated for best drama series. Watching old episodes, I really think season 3 was their best season.

Was Raising Hope seriously never submitted for consideration of the Emmy ballot once? That’s insane if that’s the case. You could check my links to those ballots just to be sure.

Keep in mind the whole reason I started this thread wasn’t for what shows and performances were merely snubbed, but for those that were not even submitted for Emmy consideration on the nominating ballots by the networks.

Off topic but regarding Law and Order: SVU, I was just checking its Emmy record and noticed that potential New York Governor Cynthia Nixon won an Emmy for Guest Actress for this show in 2008. I’m willing to bet it always got submitted by the network for Drama Series, it was just sadly never nominated by the voters themselves.

You said it! I wonder if Bryan Fuller didn’t even bother to submit because of the cancellation? I was freaking out why Gillian Anderson wasn’t submitted that year in Supporting Actress. Not only she was Emmy-worthy in the third season, but DOLCE episode was also one of the finest hours of TV! And guess what, Vincenzo Natalli’s direction and the screenplay, along with the James Hawkinson’s cinematography weren’t even submitted as well!

My fault. I’m sure these shows/actors did submit themselves, they just weren’t nominated. Sorry, I should have paid more attention to the thread.
