Torn about Drama Actress, S. Actress, Comedy S. Actress, Directing, and Limited S. Actress.

    DRAMA

    Series: Succession

Directing: Succession, This Is Not For Tears

Writing: Succession, This Is Not For Tears

    Actor: Jeremy Strong, Succession

Actress: Laura Linney, Ozark (On principle!!!!)

    S. Actor: Kieran Culkin, Succession

    S. Actress: Sarah Snook, Succession (But I’ve been swapping Snook, Garner, and HBC for 2 months, while secretly hoping for a Shaw upset)

    COMEDY

    Series: Schitt’s Creek

Directing: Schitt’s Creek, Happy Ending (I wish I was wrong- It’s tragic to put the blandly directed and average SC finale over the most gorgeous Maisel episode)

    Writing: Schitt’s Creek, Happy Ending

Actor: Eugene Levy, Schitt’s Creek (I had Youssef until yesterday, but sadly I just don’t see the same level of buzz behind him. Hope he gets his turn for the next, better season of Ramy)

    Actress: Catherine O’Hara, Schitt’s Creek

    S. Actor: Tony Shalhoub, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel

    S. Actress: Alex Borstein, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (But I really hope it ends up being Orji, Borstein does not need a third win- I will say that she had much better material this time than for her earlier wins)

    LIMITED

    Series: Watchmen

    Directing: Unorthodox

    Writing: Watchmen, This Extraordinary Being

    Actor: Jeremy Irons, Watchmen

    Actress: Regina King, Watchmen

    S. Actor: Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Watchmen

    S. Actress: Uzo Aduba, Mrs. America

    COMPETITION PROGRAM: Top Chef

    TALK SHOW: Last Week Tonight

I am prepared for a <50% score, with how the Creative Arts went.

    Final Thoughts

In my eyes, the three Series categories were locked ever since the nominations came out. All three frontrunners did better than their competition and I don’t see these categories as competitive.

    Succession | Schitt’s Creek | Watchmen

My first impression for Drama Actress was it’s going to be either Linney or Colman. Since it became a six-way race, I’ve had Zendaya for weeks and I don’t see who else to predict for the win. Aniston doesn’t fit the previous line of winners, but I have her second as a spoiler. Wouldn’t be surprised if they default back to Comer. For Lead Actor, my theory is that whatever happens, meaning even though vote-splitting happens, it’s either Strong or Cox. This thinking is faulty, but I can’t force myself to predict anyone else.

    Jeremy Strong | Zendaya

Crudup makes sense. The acting branch embraced the show and he was nominated at SAG. But his buzz disappeared after the nominations, while Culkin was slowly getting more and more attention. I was considering Esposito, but if he couldn’t win last night for a bigger show, I’m not sure it’s happening here. Whitford is my nightmare win. So, I see it being a race between these four performers. It’s the only category I’ll be probably changing a few times before the deadline. For Supporting Actress, on the other hand, I had Snook for a while. As I’ve said before, the show was big with actors and she doesn’t have internal competition. Bonham-Carter is a safer choice and I’d watch out for Shaw winning like Newton did on her second try.

Billy Crudup / Kieran Culkin | Sarah Snook

I’ve mentioned Zendaya, Snook and Succession in Directing a while ago as a sort of crazy idea that might happen, but it came more realistic and even though it might backfire, I’m sticking with them. If Casting went otherwise, I would consider Homeland or The Crown. Honestly, I don’t see Ozark happening here. (Last year’s Bateman will perfectly capture my reaction if that happens)

    Jesse Armstrong | Mark Mylod

Even though I was convinced Youssef was winning even before he was nominated, I switched to Levy. I’m also predicting Schitt’s Creek for three acting wins. O’Hara feels like a lock, but watch out for Rae. At one point I had Ali and realized I had Ramy winning all of its three nominations.

Eugene Levy | Catherine O’Hara | Daniel Levy | Alex Borstein

Hoping for What We Do in the Shadows to upset in Writing, but it’s Schitt’s Creek to lose. I don’t see The Good Place happening. I finally switched to Shitt’s Creek for Directing, too. Personally, it would be the worst win of the night, but the other contenders don’t have any arguments going for them. I’ll mention Mancuso again, whose nomination means a lot. It’s not like The Big Bang Theory last year, getting in because of a rule. Voters knew it’s the final season and went for it.

Daniel Levy | Andrew Cividino & Daniel Levy

Sticking with Mescal, but I just can’t stop thinking that Jackman is a huge threat. I’ve tried not to think too much about the limited categories, so I’ve kept Aduba, but Watchmen‘s sweep at the Creative Arts makes me pause. I think that Aduba won’t be hurt by vote-splitting simply because they haven’t seen the show. I’m also predicting Abdul-Mateen II since July and it just makes sense to me. I don’t wanna sound harsh, but Parsons has been the most delusional prediction on the forums this year. I’m saying this being aware that I could be very wrong in a few hours.

Paul Mescal | Regina King | Yahya Abdul-Mateen II | Uzo Aduba

Directing is messy, so I’d rather go safe with Watchmen and “This Extraordinary Being”. I’d say, besides Little Fires Everywhere, Normal People is also a threat.

Damon Lindelof & Cord Jefferson | Stephen Williams

Last year, I missed a lot of the discussion here and went blind into the Emmy ceremony. I scored my best predictions, getting right Chernobyl over When They See Us and all four limited acting categories. I’m having a bad feeling about my result this year.

If Watchmen wins all it’s predicted categories, Would it be the first year that only 1 limited series program nominee wins Emmys while the other 4 nominees win 0 Emmy for the whole season?

This weekend has been so busy I completely forgot about the Emmys, but here are my predicted winners that differ from the top choice on the site. They’re from a few weeks ago, but my forgetfulness has ensured that they’re final now.

    COMEDY ACTOR: Ramy Youssef
    COMEDY SUPP ACTRESS: Annie Murphy
COMEDY DIRECTING: It’s Comedy or Cabbage
    COMEDY WRITING: Whenever You’re Ready
    DRAMA ACTOR: Brian Cox
    DRAMA SUPP ACTRESS: Sarah Snook
    LIMITED SUPP ACTOR: Tituss Burgess
    LIMITED DIRECTING: Unorthodox

Definitely wish I’d moved Schitt’s into my top spot in writing but oh well there’s no going back now.
