Limited/Movie Lead Actor is definitely Jerome vs. Harris.

I hope they go with Jerome. That would be such a progressive choice. Jerome really shined in Ep 4 of WTSU. When he found out his transgender sister died and when he imagined what life would have been like if he hadn’t gone to the park were heartbreaking.

What I loved about the Fosse/Verdon writing was a) jumping through time effectively and brilliantly shaping individual episodes around a core theme/project
    B) the fight scene on the beach because wow that dialogue was terrific
    C) episode 5. Perfect bottle episode. To me the highlight of the season and evening though her clip may not be her best, it really is in this episode that Qualley earned her nomination. She quietly steals the entire episode.
And most importantly D) the way they use theatre and the arts/projects Bob is involved with to give insight about his inner psychology. It’s a simple trick but very effective in setting it apart from your typical biopic. From Bob envisioning himself dancing and then Sliding down the hallway reflecting his hope/dismay during the editing process in Episode 2; to the Pippin fantasy song everyone sings to him; to the Lenny stand up. They use his art to reflect his inner workings which is effective storytelling but fundamentally conveys his attitude to his art as inherently narcissistic.

Thank you for this brilliant input, Jesse! I love it!

After giving it some thought, I feel like When They See Us was a little better overall than Chernobyl. The last 2 episodes of Chernobyl did nothing for me. When it ended, I was like “was that it?’ I feel like the directing with When They See Us was better as well.

Honey, you must be the only person on Earth that felt like this. Episode 5 is a brilliant and tense thriller, made me angry, scary and sad. And episode 4 did nothing to you??!! Do you hate dogs and cats? Waw..

Changed my supporting actor prediction from Skarsgard to Whishaw. All acting winners will be from different shows.

The only sweeping scenario I think is realistic is Chernobyl beating Ava in directing and Jharrel in lead actor, then expectedly taking series and writing. If WTSU takes series, it will only take Lead actor and directing with it (so not a sweep). I don’t buy Williams or Farmiga winning the supporting categories anymore.

    For Your Consideration:

Best International Feature: Instinct (The Netherlands)
Best Actress: Carice van Houten (Instinct)

Why does everyone fall for this every year? Strahovski, Harbour and Moss won the GoldDerby awards last year and look what happened.

It just makes sense. Whishaw is the frontrunner, and his show hasn’t been forgotten which is what I thought would happen initially.

You guys predicting a complete spread of wealth made me question my choices. Am I going too blindly after WTSU’s casting win for it to win 3 acting categories?

Olive Kitteridge won casting + 3 acting awards but they were the sole nominees from the show.

People vs. O.J. Simpson won casting + 3 acting awards Paulson was alone but Brown and Vance were the consensus choices.

Big Little Lies won casting + 3 acting awards Skarsgard was alone but Kidman and Dern were the near/consensus choices.

Compared to last year when Versace won Casting but only 1 acting award. Just like WTSU it had 2 Supporting Actress contenders and 3 Supporting Actor contenders and in both categories, it lost to presumed #2 Godless in the series race.

Considering these situations, could WTSU face a similar fate? And in that case, would the Supporting categories go to Chernobyl or two completely different shows? Or am I just overthinking this?

I feel like people don’t realize that all those steak eaters that just voted for Chernobyl in those categories this weekend gets to vote for Miniseries too. 24000 members of the TV Academy over 30 branches. If the writers or directors go for Chernobyl too….

I just wrote an article about this yesterday and just one minor correction: Zoe Kazan was also nominated for Olive Kitteridge, so it won 3/4 acting nods. Kazan lost to Regina King.

Emmys FYC - "Unbelievable" and "The Handmaid's Tale" in all categories; Viola Davis in Best Drama Actress for the final season of "HTGAWM;" "Ozark:" Drama Series, Laura Linney (Best Actress) and Julia Garner (Best Supporting Actress)
