OK, everybody, take your gloves off and settle this …June 17, 2014 at 7:03 am #319680
Who should win – Bryan Cranston. A great arc, his work in Ozyamandias and Felina is incredible. McConaughy is a great surprise in True Detective however there is an equally strong argument to be made for Woody Harrelson winning. Spacey is a great actor stuck in 1 dimensional role, with no tape that’s compelling about his character – but there’s certainly hope for next year, I mean look at Robin Wright, in Season 1 I was against a lead actress nomination but season 2 I’m for her winning it!Riley (the normal one, not the one who won the predictions contest)ParticipantJune 17, 2014 at 7:06 am #319681
Matthew McConaughey is good, but he does not quite have the range of Bryan Cranston and as soon as I saw this terrific True Detective parody on YouTube that nails Rust Cohle’s mannerisms, I lost some respect for the performance. I would put Matthew Rhys on The Americans ahead of him. Just speaking in terms of episode submissions, I would also put Michael Sheen ahead of McConaughey. Rounding out the category, I would have Woody Harrelson, who I thought had the most cathartic moment in True Detective when he broke down in the finale, as well as the consistently excellent Jon Hamm. In other words, what are you doing bringing Kevin Spacey into this discussion? He is so hammy that he should not be nominated against these men and I have not even mentioned Hugh Dancy, which is a performance that I know that you love.June 17, 2014 at 7:25 am #319682
I guess I can understand the inclusion of Spacey based on name and likehood of nomination, but his performance makes me wish there was a Razzies for TV.June 17, 2014 at 7:30 am #319683
From these – Cranston, for sure.June 17, 2014 at 7:40 am #319684
Just let him have his year guys. The guy was rompcom for so long, he is finally having a taste of pure and inspired acting bliss.
He is a great actor, but his award worthyness stems from how incredible his turnaround is and the acclaimed and good acting choices he currently makes. That can’t go un-noticed.June 17, 2014 at 7:44 am #319685
Cranston by a mile. I’m a huge fan of McConaughey as well, but no performance this year (male or female) comes close in my eyes. I’d also rank Hamm and Harrelson well ahead Spacey.Riley (the normal one, not the one who won the predictions contest)ParticipantJune 17, 2014 at 7:45 am #319686
He already stole an Oscar for it. He does not need an Emmy too.June 17, 2014 at 7:49 am #319687
Matthew McConaughey. But I won’t stop rooting for Jon Hamm though.June 17, 2014 at 7:54 am #319688
Bryan Cranston SHOULD win by a mile and I’m betting he WILL win as well.June 17, 2014 at 7:59 am #319689
Cranston should win by far. If I was an Academy Member I would have given 5 Emmys for him. McConaughey deserves it too, but in the Miniseries category. Spacey is good, but his range is not as huge as Rust and Walt. Frank is like a calm down demon; he nerver loses control. It’s a shame that Cranston and McConaughey won’t get Emmys in their respective categories. Now only one can take the trophy.June 17, 2014 at 8:12 am #319690
