FX has ordered an eight-part miniseries about of the lives of iconic Broadway duo, Bob Fosse and Gwen Verdon, based on Sam Wasson’s book, Fosse. Sam Rockwell and Michelle Williams are both set to star in the series. Production is scheduled to begin this fall, with an expected 2019 premiere.Tony-winning Hamilton collaborators Lin-Manuel Miranda and Andy Blankenbuehler are among the co-producers, with the pilot episode directed by Thomas Kail and written by Dear Evan Hansen scribe Steven Levenson, who will serve as showrunner.

As a fan of Bob Fosse ever since Cabaret, I hope Sam Rockwell can do the man justice. I didn’t even know about Gwen Verdon until now, but Michelle Williams is also very talented and I hope she will do excellent work with whatever she is given. I hope the writers don’t make this make this series TOO historically inaccurate, because this really does sound like a cool and interesting story that isn’t as well-known as many other Hollywood “biopics” like Feud: Bette and Joan.

Note to myself: Don’t ever feed the trolls. Don’t get involved in others drama. Don’t let myself be swayed by others predictions, trust my gut more often!

Note to all others: If you don’t happen to like me, ignore me. It is that simple.

Michelle Willims will have an Emmy before she gets an Oscar. Never saw that coming.

I want this to come out this cycle so we have Adams Vs. Williams Vs. Arquette. Maybe not such an easy walk for Adams after all?

Shooting this fall, so spring 2019, I suppose? Adams has competition.

What an interesting Emmy race it would be if we have two film actresses who are both overdue for Oscars go head-to-head. At least it seems easier for Amy Adams to win the Golden Globe at this point.

    Decade’s 3+ Oscar nominees:
    Amy Adams, Sharp Objects
    Meryl Streep, Big Little Lies
    Octavia Spencer, Are You Sleeping
    Michelle Williams, Fosse/Verdon

Jennifer Lawrence – Besides SNL she hasn’t done TV this decade but she did start there. Maybe when she’s in her 30s…
    Wow at TV these days.

I’ll check it out because of Williams but I can’t help but think this won’t exactly be a ratings hit for FX at the same time.

I really am curious about the Williams casting because Gwen Verdon is not just considered a Broadway triple threat, but she really was one of the best dancers ever on Broadway and to be captured on screen. She also had a warmth in her performances. I really am a fan of Williams but I don’t know if she can capture the essence of Verdon. I think Rockwell will make a compelling Fosse though.

I wonder if they’ll recreate this scene:
