This is the most ridiculous reboot idea I have ever heard.

Second of all, why take a mostly light hearted show and make it a drama?
ReplyCopy URLAugust 11, 2020 at 8:39 pm #1203641062HORRIBLE IDEA. It doesn’t have a network or streaming service so hopefully no one will buy it.
ReplyCopy URLAugust 11, 2020 at 10:28 pm #1203641214Not every old show that does well on streaming needs a reboot/remake.

Hey, it worked with The Bradys…oh, wait, no it didn’t, did it?

ReplyCopy URLAugust 12, 2020 at 2:23 pm #1203642298I guess I’m in the minority. I really did like the trailer. Expanding on that idea with backing from Will Smith and the original team, I think this could work. And the dramatic angle is hella timely.
ReplyCopy URLAugust 12, 2020 at 4:08 pm #1203642568Yea I don’t hate this. I honestly don’t have very high hopes it’s actually going to be good (I don’t know how involved Morgan Cooper will be but I didn’t think the fan film was very good), but if you just look at the basic premise, on paper, it totally is the type of thing that COULD be a really good teen drama. So I’ll hold out hope.
ReplyCopy URLAugust 12, 2020 at 6:15 pm #1203642833The trailer was fine to me. It plays very well in light of BLM. I get the reasons for tagging onto established IP, but I think an original premise would have been more powerful and received less opposition. With all of these unknowns, it looks like the show should be on Freeform, not being fought over by all of the streaming services. If they’re genuinely serious about this, then get some big names attached to the lead roles. Why not let Will Smith play Uncle Phil, and Jada be Aunt Viv? Or some up and comer for Will. That’s the hook to get people to watch this! I’d watch the pilot to that series, at least.

ReplyCopy URLSeptember 9, 2020 at 12:56 pm #1203695741The problem I see with this isn’t that it’s taking a beloved IP and being experimental with it, it’s just that…I couldn’t help but laugh when I heard the familiar lines of the show set to dramatic (and pretty bad) cinematography and overwrought line deliveries. It finds with all the “dark” takes of everything, including who can make super heroes the darkest the fastest with the least amount of humor (or humor without any comedic timing) that has been happening forever.
