What are your ideas for American Crime Story installments beyond season 3 (Katrina)? I just read on The Hollywood Reporter (https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/american-crime-story-season-3-all-katrina-details-far-1096092) that, after Katrina, Murphy is planning to do s4 around the Lewinsky scandal, which would be awesome. What are some other infamous American crimes you think should be the basis for a future season?
My list would look something like this:
- Columbine–I know that it may be a risky idea to try and depict any mass shooting in the media, especially this one, but I think it could be handled artfully by Murphy and co., and would make a very intense season. I can see it going two ways: focus on Harris and Klebold and how they got to that point, or focus on the aftermath and how it affected the victims and country.
- Rodney King trial/LA riots–This could be either a courtroom drama like People v OJ, or it could be a disaster/military story based around the riots themselves.
- Sandcastle School–This may be too recent, but I think it’s a story worth telling. Either show how the Turpin family got to that point, or the aftermath of their rescue and the parents’ trial.
- Ted Bundy/The Green River Killer–I’ll be honest, I only want these two because A: eventually they have to do a 1970’s serial killer story, and B: The Green River case is the inspiration for The Silence of the Lambs.
- The Unabomber–This one would be somewhat similar to Versace, I think, with the manhunt for the bomber being the main focus.
What do you degenerates think?September 11, 2018 at 8:38 pm #1202629928
He officially cancelled Lewinsky, and Katrina might not even be happening. His priority really seems to be his deal with Netflix, so I’m expecting The Politician (filming) and Sarah Paulson as Nurse Ratched before KatrinaSeptember 11, 2018 at 8:40 pm #1202629930
I was really excited for Katrina but they keep delaying it so I doubt there’s going to be any new seasons any time soon.September 11, 2018 at 10:16 pm #1202630033
Columbine is a brilliant idea. So timely. I wonder what source material they would have to adapt the story.September 12, 2018 at 12:21 am #1202630076

Probably this. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Columbine_(book)
“The book spent eight weeks on The New York Times bestseller list in the spring of 2009, peaking at #3.”September 12, 2018 at 6:34 am #1202630186
American Crime Story: Donald Trump.
Emmys 2019 FYC: Lena Headey ("Game of Thrones"), Cicely Tyson ("HTGAWM"), Viola Davis ("HTGAWM"), "The Haunting of Hill House" & "Escape at Dannemora" in all categoriesSeptember 12, 2018 at 6:37 am #1202630187

American Crime Story: Donald Trump.
It could focus on the “alleged” Russia/Putin collusion with the Trump Presidential campaign. I don’t think enough details are confirmed just yet, but by the time say, the Katrina and hypothetical Columbine seasons are done (IF the latter ever happens) I think we should know enough by then for a solid 10 episodes of television.
“Putin and Trump- Unholy Alliance: American Crime Story” Season 4 or 5.September 12, 2018 at 8:39 am #1202630229
American Crime Story: Donald Trump. Jk.

Honestly, I would definitely watch that. It’s been a while since we had a good political thriller.September 12, 2018 at 1:48 pm #1202630430

Apparently Katrina is no longer in development, but the show will be back for at least four more installments.February 4, 2019 at 11:57 am #1202761226
So, we won’t be seeing neither Crime nor Feud anytime soon. Feud is basically dead.February 4, 2019 at 2:04 pm #1202761389
Too bad about Katrina. It has been teetering on the edge for a while now but I still had hope it would happen.
I was worried what Murphy’s move to Netflix would mean to both Feud and Crime Story. Horror Story has been pretty self-sufficient without Murphy’s direct involvement for years so it’s not a surprise that it’s the one show going on with no interruptions. Crime sat out a year between OJ and Versace but I think Versace had already gone into production by this point in 2017? Or it was about to. So for them to not even have a theme for season 3 right now means we’re more likely to see it in 2021 than 2020.
Ryan Murphy tweeted a while ago that he had something in the works for Darren Criss, Cody Fern, and Finn Wittrock. So, Netflix or one of the planned Crime installations?February 4, 2019 at 2:38 pm #1202761420
Annette Bening was attached to the Katrina project at one point, right? Although I want her to win an Oscar sometime soon, she’d fit right into the Murphy world. I’d love to see her in a campy role ~a la “Mrs. Harris.”
Also, Sharon Gless needs to get back to work with Ryan Murphy. Her “Nip/Tuck” arc was incredible (and Emmy-win worthy). I miss seeing her on the small screen.
