I’ve never watched Game of Thrones, I’m trying to watch all shows that will be nominated this year. Do I need to watch from Season one or can I just watch the final season

Game of Thrones is heavily serialized and you won’t get nor enjoy S8 if you haven’t seen the rest, so sorry to say.

Emmys 2019 FYC: Lena Headey ("Game of Thrones"), Cicely Tyson ("HTGAWM"), Viola Davis ("HTGAWM"), Richard Madden ("Bodyguard"), "Bodyguard," "The Haunting of Hill House" & "Escape at Dannemora" in all categories

yeah, even if you watch the emmy-nominated Gay of Thrones for recap, it won’t feel complete. You have to start from the beginning and just take your time.

Agreed. It’s not the same at all like watching it from episode 1

Friki’s leaks on Reddit were quite accurate for episode 1. I’m really curious if he’s right about Tyrion.

He probably is since Dinklage had said in an interview that people are gonna hate him this season.

The new spoilers for episode 3 aren’t from friki though. They’re supposedly from an India employee for HBO or something, told by another reddit user. They were taken down though shortly after, which probably indicates they’re true, and they probably are since they make sense and confirm a rumored twist that was meant to take place during the battle. Now later on, another user supposedly from India posted all S8 major deaths that he/she had convinced someone working for HBO to spill details, and it does feature the same deaths for episode 3 and the rest from the rest of the season, which surprisingly aren’t many. But that last one might not be true. It seems fishy.

I read it. Seems out of character for Tyrion. I will probably jump ship if the plot leading to that will be contrived AF.

Kindly please don’t post any spoilers on this thread. I’m glad that people have refrained from explicitly talking about them.

Darlings, Daenerys isn’t even close to be the best female character on this show (Cersei is, then Arya and probably Sansa) but, of course, she is probably the most known in pop culture. I think Daenerys could’ve been the best and most complex character on the show if we had a better actress and not Emilia Clarke. On the other hand, we have Cersei, who’s elevated by her actress’ magnificent work and is much more complex than in the books.

How many nominations total do you think the final season will get?

According to Goldderby it will get Series and all seven main actors. We’ll have to wait to see if any actor can be nominated in guest. Since pretty much everybody (no Melisandre) appeared in “Winterfell”, they can only be in one more to be nominated. Maybe skip the next episode and die in battle the week after.

Since season 5, GOT has been nominated twice every year in Drama Directing, so the same will probably happen in its final year. Sapochnik is a lock, the second spot between David Nutter and D.B Weiss & Dan Benioff. Maybe it can get all the season directors in (probably same history-making stuff right here). Writing is also a lock, every season has been nominated here except for the second.

Somehow, it was snubbed in Cinematography for season 7, after receiving 8 nominations in 4 years. It will get back in, if it does, maybe gets more than one.

Production Design and Costumes are also locks. 5 and 4 wins, respectively. Only missing the nomination season 1 for its production design. The same goes for the sound categories, it only missed Sound Mixing in season 1. Won 4 awards for mixing and only 2 for editing, but nominations on both are certain.

It has 8 nominations in Picture Editing, 7 of those in the last 3 seasons, winning for seasons 5 and 6. The question here, is how many will it get? Probably 2, maybe 3.

Visual Effects is a absolute lock, 7 nominations translating into 6 wins.

In Hairstyling and Makeup (two categories here, Prosthetic and Non-Prosthetic) the show only was snubbed twice – both last year. Combining the three categories, over the course of its run it was nominated 19 times and won 7 awards.

Casting was nominated every year, winning twice. Stunt Coordination was snubbed in seasons 2 and 3, but has won the last three years in a row.

Since the rules for Music Composition have changed it will help Ramin Djawadi get his third nomination and second win.

Bonus: with the updated Opening Credits, it can (probably) now be nominated once again in Main Title Design. It won back in season 1.

This means it will be nominated in every below-the-line category it can be. That’s 14 categories, with the possible double and triple nomination in a category (Cinematography and Picture Editing most likely). Plus Series, Directing (x2), Writing, Harington, Clarke, Dinklage, Coster-Waldau, Headey, Williams and Turner.

That’s somewhere between 25 and 28 nominations (not counting Guest Actor or Actress). If it happens, it must be a record for any show in a single year. Am I right? How many do you think it will get?

And it’s also possible that they’ll submit John Bradley as well, and he’ll get in if they do.

The record is 27 nominations for NYPD’s first season.

She did, when Daenerys meets Sansa, she is in the background watching.

Oh… she got that cheque without saying a single word. Her power!
