I refuse to believe that this ends next week; I will need antidepressants afterwards. I don’t care how much I disliked episode 4 (and then ending of 3), I will still deeply miss this show, and I can’t believe this eight-season journey is about to come to an end. Which show will break the internet from now on? Which show will make HBO’s site crash?

Okay Guys I know I’ve been harsh to D&D, but I’m just rewatching Episode 3 and I have to admit, the visual and the directing are just perfect.

I knew you’d see the light! D&D are still bad…but Sapochnik and Ramin were kings of that episode!

OMG, why is Tyrion like the worst Hand in the history of Hands? I will eat my feelings and always distrust a Lannister.

I just rewatch episode 4 and I honestly just don’t understand all the hate. It’s not the best episode, but it’s far from the worst. People are just mad because the end is not like they expected.

That’s an oversimplification. We’re talking about GoT, things are not like we expect them to be, but at least that used to happen with better writing. Examples:

    Renly’s death

    Red wedding

    Purple wedding

    Shireen’ demise Stannis downfall

    Hodor

    Explosion of the High Sparrow

At the moment we’re dealing with:

    Ridiculous dragon death

Overpowering of one-note villain who never fails

Catastrophic and inexplicable war tactics due to deplorable advice

    Scheming at Means Girl level

No real conflict with Jon while thinking about his claim to the Throne (others are deciding for him) = misses opportunity

    Annoying cutaways

    Contradictory behavior

    Filler scenes (Bronn)

    And possibly:

A much theorized and potentially compelling character transformation but that it will be definitely rushed if it happens in 1.5 episodes

I still value many aspects of the show, but why make excuses for the writing team when they get paid A LOT and made us wait so much? People are not gonna clap for whatever nonsense is throw at them just because an episode looks good
If anything, people are being more critical which is something we humans lack. I wouldn’t mind 7 starbuck cups, three pizzas and an Avengers shirt on the screen if we were getting in character dialogues and meaningful character conclusions

My biggest problem was how Daenerys is being set up as this incapable ruler with ‘mad’ tendencies when nothing she has done this season is any different from the previous ones.

Varys being suddenly worried about her ‘state of mind’ is ridiculous. Any person would feel lonely, jealous and a little angry if they were treated the same way as Daenerys was. Her wanting to destroy Cersei immediately was not baseless and neither were her suspicious of Sansa, who is another issue but  I don’t even want to talk about it right now.

The point is Dany has always been impulsive, short tempered and vindictive. Nothing has changed about her. If Varys and Tyrion were willing to serve her before then them being worried now doesn’t make sense. I don’t even understand why most people think she’s behaving like a mad queen.

The show acting  like Jon would be a better ruler is again infuriating. A person who so unwittingly told Cersei the truth and who stupidly tried to stop Daenerys from saving their people despite seeing how much they needed them. Yeah. He would make such a capable ruler.

Daenerys has done nothing to deserve the kind of hostility she has received from the North, especially from the Starks. Arya and Sansa not trusting Daenerys even now doesn’t make sense.

This entire storyline is contrived and even though this past episode has certainly gotten some excessive unwarranted hate, it is still one of their weakest ones mostly because of how most characters’ storylines were progressed.

Basically, you’re right. How can they explain that up to the point where 8×04 ended and after helping and losing so much to save the North she was getting a worse treatment than Jaime who basically gets a free pass after pushing Bran (not said for convenient reasons) and starting the chain of events that lead to Ned’s death?

I mean, if they wanted to make Daenerys a villain bitch, then make her a villain bitch, don’t create this mess where people are rooting for her to burn everyone lol. However, she’s listened to everyone and controlled her impulses when the only piece of advice she should’ve listened to was Olenna’s.

The Mad Queen setup (or it’s advancement) is like the only thing I actually hate from this past episode. I can rant all day about how it’s beyond horrible.

Varys? It’s literally been shown and said multiple times throughout the series that all he wants is the Iron Throne and to control who ever is easiest. So, trying to randomly make him look like the savior with his “for the people” gag is so weak. And because you refuse to listen to basic reasoning, you plot to assassinate her? Lol what?

Tyrion remains as useless as ever and has continuously been the worst thing to happen to Daenerys. Like she lost three huge allies (and two of her children/dragons) just because he’s a horrible military strategist and his “starve the people” plan (like has that actually ever worked in their history or our’s?). Tyrion, you are literally the root of the problem, not her “mad tendencies.” Just burn the Red Keep itself when you first get there and you solve the problem, but instead we’re with this plot to turn everyone against Daenerys because everyone around her lacks the brain capacity to understand common sense, and now she has to burn the whole city down.

And don’t even get me started on the Jon-Sansa-Daenerys mess. It’s also a horrible setup when you have the viewers wanting KL to be burned when D&D are trying to make the opposite happen (as mentioned by Wattsgold). I’ve praised the development of various characters before, but I can’t even deal with this one (especially when I’ve had about a week to sit on it).

I could rant some more but I’ll save everyone an extra novel’s worth.

And the thing is that the show keeps telling us that Jon would make a better ruler when it has gone out of its way to strip him from his strengths to the point where Sansa’s statement just comes across as ridiculous. They are not even selling that plot point as something that the audience would accept because Jon has been painfully inadequate even in his position as a general. So basically what makes Jon a better ruler is that he is a man.

I also have a problem with how petty and ungrateful Sansa and Arya are being. Arya’s statement about Dany not being one of them sounds very much as something Tywin or Cersei would say. Cersei actually said something similar to Joffrey and the gif is going around on social media. So what this does is make the Starks look very bad because they are fine with using Dany’s forces to save themselves (and as a meat shield to shield the northerners since it was the Unsullied who took the burnt of the army of the dead to let everyone else retreat inside Winterfell) but they are salty about having her as queen or being a part of her campaign. And I’m supposed to listen to them, root for them or think they are justified in their politics?

When your protagonists end up using the same tactics and justifications as your villains then something is very wrong with your story. We shouldn’t be expected to watch the heroes turn into their tormentors and cheer for it. This is honestly turning into one of these “you either die a hero or live to watch yourselves become the villain” narratives which aren’t inherently bad but they are doing it with everyone. That’s a problem.

I’m at a point where I want to punch 98‰ of the characters in the throat. It’s ironic that the show has gotten me to hate Jon and Sansa who are my favorites and take Dany’s side when I’ve always been apathetic towards her. As said above, trying to give Dany a mad queen narrative (which I have feelings about in and of itself but that’s another argument) doesn’t work that well when you’re actually making the audience WANT her to burn all these clowns to the ground.

Come on. All I see is them avoiding revealing anything, since either word they chose to describe can be thourouly analyzed.

Funny how this video was created on May 10th, after all the unwarranted negative buzz happened, and no one thought to read these interviews like that prior to episode 3.
You can make a 10 minute video of the cast praising the final season on interviews and it would make much more sense
