Just checking in. Are we now in the backlash to the backlash yet?

I’m interested in what year HBO deemed her role big enough to submit her themselves. I still don’t understand why they cut so much of her material at the wall. She should’ve been able to really dominate season 5 for example. I think she was guest eligible for seasons 2, 4 and obviously 7.

She was only eligible for season 7 since the rule of episode count determining the eligibility of guest categories have only recently been applied.

I just checked the previous ballots and it turned out that she only submitted herself in supporting category for s5&s6 and HBO have never submitted her. Which does not seem much promising that she’d be aware of the new rule to submit herself in guest.

Season 6 was the year they submitted her in Supporting. I remember because I was upset they did Dormer wrong by not submitting her lol.

Edit: just kidding, I could’ve sworn that HBO submitted her for 6 instead of herself, but I guess not, according to Roney.

One of them is always looking down, could be shyness, could be shame lol

I’m assuming you mean Weiss, but he was always a little bit socially awkward, which is not a bad trait by any means.

And as pompous as they may seem, they’d definitely get extra sympathy points from me if I was a voter, for all the internet “lynching” they receive. They might not be Shakespeare, but this is getting out of hand now, and that ungrateful petition is a good sign for that.

I really don’t want this show to end. Ugh, can we rewind the clock!?

For some reason I thought the new eligibility rules were instated earlier than they actually were. I’m sure I remember a season where HBO submitted her though.

That’s my worry as well – she has never submitted herself in guest. People at Gold Derby have the influence to advise her or HBO how to submit so I hope we get confirmation in the coming weeks.

The reason why I think that Carice van Houten has never been submitted by HBO is that her name never appeared on one of these FYC Boxsets for any season.

In fact, ever since s5 HBO has been submitting the same 7 main stars so I tend to believe it must be a contractual thing.

Welp to HBO submitting her I guess. So we’re going to have to rely on her submission if that S8 tape omission wasn’t due to avoiding spoilers.

Maybe they gave up on guest acting submissions after Rigg failed to win on so many occasions. It’s so stupid because this is their easiest path to an acting win after Dinklage. I’m sure she will submit herself so I’m not too worried but someone needs to make sure she’s submitted correctly (in guest).

My theory is that she did not submit herself last year because she had so little to do. But she had such a big episode this year that I suspect that she will submit herself and given that it was her only episode (and it was after a long absence), I can see herself viewing it as a guest appearance.

I think that the submissions are more likely a (questionable) strategic thing than a contractual thing, like I assume that Iain Glen makes more per episode than Maisie Williams, given his “with” credit and it taking years for her even to be billed alone in the credits (and actors generally having better contracts than actresses).

I struggle to see the strategic benefit of not submitting her though (although of course we know that submission choices are often illogical). Are they trying to orientate focus on the core cast and don’t want the clutter of guest submissions? Because the effect of that would be minimal.
