I was wondering: if HBO had sended the usual four episodes for the critics in season 6 and 7 besides just one, the Metacritic Score would be better?

Season 6 (73) had one of the most strong beginnings of the series until now, with “Home” and “Book of Stranger” being two of the finest GOT episodes. I think the score coulded be between 85-92.

Season 7 (77) had a very well-paced beginning, with a lot of important moments and great performances by Dianna Rigg and Lena Headey in the third episode. And of course, “The Spoils of War” would have amazed the critics, so probably the score coulded be between 88-94.

I thought about it because there is a 99% chance that HBO will not send any episodes of the last season for the critics either.

I would say that both season 6 and 7 would have received an 89 on MC if they saw the first four episodes.

Fair point.  GoT is a bad one to score based on one episode, as the season premieres are generally quite underwhelming.  It’s always so much catching up to do.

Not sure what that “Special Award” is about, but both of those competitive wins were totally deserved! Congratulations to the Production Designer and Costume Designer for their consistently outstanding work on Game of Thrones getting Bafta TV Awards recognition.

“According to BAFTA, “this Special Award recognises the craft behind the making of the critically acclaimed series and their outstanding contribution to revolutionising and pushing the boundaries within the various crafts involved in making all the 67 episodes to date,” as well as “the support the series has provided for the television industry in the UK.”

Ha, literally posted in the season 7 thread the same minute that you posted that. Moving here: HBO has included the first two episodes of the season in their FYC DVD box to voters because someone was lazy AF. Looks like they are submitting all four directors, but just one episode for writing again.

^Oh, I went on the S7 thread, but it said it was closed to more comments. It’s nice that they’re submitting all 4 directors, although Mylod doesn’t really have a chance, but what ep is he submitting? 2 or 3? I guess 3? Pretty basic submissions overall, it’d be interesting if they campaigned van Houten.

Riley, how effective this episodes submissions are? It really cause a impact in the voting process?

Mark Mylod should definitely submit 2 “Stormborn” because of the cool action sequence at the end.

After DGA where GoT received a whopping 3 nods, would it be irrational to predict all 4 directors to get nominated for once? Also, I’m laughing my ass off at the best episode of the season “The Spoils of War” not even being included on the screener. To be fair, the first 2 episodes I really liked as well, Spoils was just my personal fave with the long-awaited reuniting of Arya/Sansa and that dragon action at the end.
