Yesterday’s episode “Good Man” was a series highlight for me. One of the most consistently funny and well-written episodes of the show’s run.
Lena Dunham also killed it this episode. Also, Adam Driver seems to be having a larger role in Season 5 than I had initially anticipated.

Peter Scolarl is always a treat on here lol. I’m glad that it looks like Adam Driver isn’t too “big” for the show moving forward and is sticking with it to the end. I’m more pleased with the expanded role for Andrew Rannells TBH (“The New Normal” was beneath him anyways). Jake Lacy is kinda awesome. Compare this role to what he did in “Carol” recently and be shocked at his range. Alex Karpovsky continues to impress. It’s good to see the guys getting some opportunities to shine while the girls are away (well, Marnie and Shosh). I’ll never approve of Jessa and Adam together, but this was about as engaging as both characters have been in a while. Bonus treat of getting both Jon Glaser and the thrilling Gaby Hoffman back for this season! Very impressive start so far! Keep writing for your series, Lena!March 7, 2016 at 6:01 am #364315
The Japan stuff was soooo good.
Loved Hannah’s friends taking pictures of her, and I appreciated that Jessa didn’t hook up with Adam. This has been quite the season so far!March 7, 2016 at 10:26 am #364316
This was the best I’ve ever seen Zosia Mamet. Way to go there! Also sending positive thoughts Lena Dunham’s way with her upcoming surgery.March 7, 2016 at 11:48 am #364317
Really enjoyed the different setting in Japan. I was hoping more of a bottle episode ala Season 2’s “One Man’s Trash”, where Shosh would be the star of the show. But since she’s a supporting character, I guess I’m not surprised. The episode lost a little focus with Hannah’s porn problem with Fran and the Jessa-Adam thing.
But Zosiah Mamet acted the HELL out of this episode. Kudos, gurl!
Healthy vibes for Lena Dunham this week! <3March 14, 2016 at 12:14 am #364318
Great episode. I have to mention this stunning song that everyone’s talking about playing in the end credits. It’s called “iT” by Christine & the Queens. The lead singer has an interesting backstory as well. Check her out on YouTube right now!March 17, 2016 at 12:39 pm #599653
^^ Obessed with Christine and the Queens and was very happy to hear her playing at the end of the episode!
Overall a very mediocre episode for me. Didn’t really enjoy anything except the Elijah story!!March 17, 2016 at 2:24 pm #599674
Corey Stoll’s scene with Elijah was hilarious.
Fun episode, but the weakest of the season.March 17, 2016 at 2:38 pm #599678
Jesse Peretz’s direction here was superb. He “gets” the show’s rhythms and dynamics as well as Lena Dunham does. The Jessa/Adam pairing is interesting, though Jemina Kirke is still meh. Corey Stall! He brings out an entirely new Elijah, and that’s exciting to watch.March 21, 2016 at 1:00 pm #600343
Very unique episode of Girls, probably the most “out there” since some of those Season 2 episodes.
TBH this season has been hit or miss for me. Really enjoying the Shoshanna moments this season, she has a completely new light shined upon her and it is WORKING. Not really about the whole Adam-Jessa relationship. Hannah is bothering me more than usual this season as well.March 21, 2016 at 1:38 pm #600359
I agree that this season has been hit or miss, but yesterday’s episode was great. I haven’t laughed this much on Girls in a looong time.March 21, 2016 at 3:16 pm #600379
This season is definitely not making it into Comedy Series. It’s been having its moments, sure it’s fun to watch, but it’s barely an actual cohesive season. It’s going nowhere and these characters feel like they have nothing else to give. I do think Corey Stoll could win Guest Actor.March 21, 2016 at 10:00 pm #600537
This may be my favorite season since the first.March 22, 2016 at 8:21 am #600588
I think knowing that they’re headed into the home stretch and being able to prepare stories knowing that next season is the last has made this season much tighter, storywise. There is real character growth here unlike the past two seasons and that makes me hopeful. Zosia Mamet has killed it this season, but I’m excited about Allison Williams’ showcase episode next week. While I liked this week’s episode, I think “Old Loves” is still my favorite of the season thus far.
