Why are online screeners inferior to DVDs?

They might not be.  I feel like a DVD is easier to pop in than to find a
website and enter a code.  A lot of these shows are available online
for legal viewing on the network websites all year round anyway, but if a
voter suddenly has a DVD in their hands, I would think that that might
    trigger something.

Less speculative is that giving voters a code
to stream a show online and also giving them a DVD means that voters
have twice as many avenues to view content.  So Glee is not getting as much help as the likes of Bob’s Burgers, regardless of if it needs it.

DVDs also come with submission lists and quotes from critics.  Glee and Homeland
have been on for a few years and maybe voters stopped watching them.
But now voters might have read on the DVD boxes that they received that
critics love Homeland again, so that might prompt them to sample it.  If Gwyneth Paltrow appeared on Glee
this year, it might help if voters were made aware of it via the
submissions lists that are attached to DVDs and maybe they even watch
the DVD to see what she has.

And if Fox is not willing to shill out for Glee in this one area, is that indicative of how much they are going to be promoting the show other ways?  Might there be fewer events open for academy members for Glee than Empire?  Will there be more advertisements online and in print for The Last Man on Earth?  I suspect that to be the case.

That web page could have had more pull quotes and razzle dazzle to it, but i think that online screeners are the wave of the future. I didn’t get why it was considered an automatic downgrade for “Glee”‘s chances when they are clearing doing something for a campaign. It was never going to be a full-blown “Empire”-level deal. This seems generally appropriate for the final season of a maligned series. Maybe the old guard still likes to hold the DVDs in hands and see/get the swag that comes along with it, or they become confused having to enter codes and such? I’ll try to give grown adults more credit than that, even seniors. All of those DVDs are also quite wasteful and not environmentally sound, though I think I read that voters are urged (required?) to use a recycling program for all of those screeners.

To be honest I think it is difficult to say whether it has much effect sending DVDs out. I mean I don’t think Warner Bros. has sent out any FYC DVDs for their shows since 2013 yet Big Bang Theory still got nominated last year. All they have this year is an FYC website I think. However though, surely it must still help a show considerably to have DVDs sent out as it must generate more awareness of the show than just a website.

Tommy Flannagans contact I do. was released on Twitter by the dark overlord and as soon as it was tweeted I called him and asked for advice and he said always be nice and show up early. He asked why I’m following a hacker site and I said my friend was and his Twitter was logged on my phone and I told him that I had to call him because I was a huge fan of him from glee. We talked for a few minutes and he told me how he was freaking Out about his phone blowing up and that he has to change his number. It was pretty cool.

Edited to add: Makes a little more sense now that the name has been corrected.

If I was a celebrity and some weirdo got my number off Twitter and called me I’d tell him to go fuck himself.
