I don’t know if a thread exists for this yet, so please correct me if there already is one. GLOW season 3 premieres August 9 on Netflix, and it’s just been announced that Geena Davis has joined the cast as a former Vegas showgirl! Super exciting!

Half way thru season, Great season so far.

Geena Davis hasn’t gotten much to do.

also Betty Gilpin is basically co-lead now. I find her more lead that Allison.

Felt the same way about this one as I did about Stranger Things season three. There were a lot of storylines and they couldn’t keep them all consistent, but it was a really fun season that highlighted all the show’s greatest strengths, like its cast and its character dynamics.

    Also, Bash is awful now.

Like it so far, I’ve seen 6 episodes. It’s a step down from season 2 but at least as good as season 1.

    I love this show.

Episode 5 is the season’s best, by far. It was just SO. MUCH. FUN. I think it only stands behind “The Good Twin” as the series’ best.

I’ve finished the season last night and thought it was great. Not as great as season 2, but still really, really good. Betty Gilpin continues to be the standout (and by this point I don’t think I really buy the ‘supporting’ tag for her, she’s just as much of a lead as Brie), and I really liked the focus on Kate Nash, she and Chris Lowell had great material to work with. Also, I can totally see Geena Davis winning a Guest Emmy. Episode 9 has the perfect moment.

I don’t feel confident about having a fourth season, the finale is pretty wrapped up. But it’s a shame to lose such a dynamic, empowered, diverse cast like this one.

I was wondering before the season if Gilpin should be considered lead, so I’m been keeping track of how many lines her Brie and Maron have each episode. Based on that, through 6 episodes Brie is still lead and Gilpin and Maron supporting, I know that’s not the only thing that should be considered but it does seems like Brie is still the ultimate center of the show.

No one looks at episode grade anymore so I thought I’d copy paste this here.

    3×01- Up,Up, Up: A (MVP: Alison Brie)
3×02- Hot Tub Club: A- (MVP: Marc Maron)
3×03- Desert Pollen: A+ (MVP: Betty Gilpin)
3×04- Say Yes: A- (MVP: Victor Quinaz)
3×05- Freaky Tuesday: A+ (MVP: Kia Stevens)
3×06- Outward Bound: A+ (MVP: Ensemble)
3×07- Hollywood Homecoming: A (MVP: Betty Gilpin)
3×08- Keep Ridin’: A (MVP: Alison Brie)
3×09- The Libertines: A+ (MVP: Alison Brie)
3×10- A very GLOW Christmas: A+ (MVP: Alison Brie)

    Season Grade: A+
    Season MVP: Alison Brie

    -POSSIBLE EPISODE SUBMISSION-
Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series: Alison Brie (“Keep Ridin’”)
Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series: Marc Maron (“Hot Tub Club”)
Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series: Betty Gilpin (“Desert Pollen”)
Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series: Elizabeth Perkins (“Hollywood Homecoming”)
Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series: Victor Quinaz (“Say Yes”)
Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series: “Desert Pollen”, “Freaky Tuesday” or “Outward Bound”
Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series: “Freaky Tuesday”

God what a spectacular season they had. Alison Brie and Betty Gilpin are simply extraordinary.

Episode 5 is probably my fav episode in the whole series and episode 6 had some of the best ensemble work I’ve ever seen.

I love your picks for these submissions! I was just curious why you think Maron (who’s been criminally snubbed and likely will be again) should submit “Hot Tub Club” instead of “Hollywood Homecoming.” I think that episode opens and closes with him and it gives him a lot of material with *SPOILER* the heart attack and its immediate fallout.

I think both would be good choice but the scene with Maron and Brie in the hot tub was just so good imo

Just finished the season (6 episodes in a row) and what a fantastic sequence of episodes. “Freaky Tuesday” was so funny, “Outward Bound” was the type of episode that deserve to be nominated for directing and writting, “A Very GLOW Christmas” was so beautiful.

Betty Gilpin is a GODDESS. She and Alison Brie are so great. Of course Gayle Rankin deserve some recognition too, Sheila’s arc was amazing. What a powerful cast.

Season 2 still the best season, but I think season 3 is my favorite, even with a few messy plots.

Betty Gilpin is giving one of the best performances on television each and every season so far. It is a shame, as I fear most people are not actually watching her show. GLOW just never got swept up into the zeitgeist the way it needed to.

Having said that, I want her to win every Emmy she will be nominated for.

Halfway through and really enjoying the season. They’re going in intriguing directions with the characters and everyone is getting moments to shine. Gilpin continues to be astonishingly good–every moment from her is a master class in line readings. Brie and Maron are magic together; all of their scenes have such an intensity and rhythm. Special shout-out to Chris Lowell too. Bash is such a douche, but endearingly so.

It’s great to have Geena Davis around, but so far it seems like luxury casting. I hope she gets some more to do in the back half.

I also like that the episodes are trending a little shorter this season. They seem more focused.

It took them forever to announce the third season renewal, so I’m skeptical about a fourth season.

Only a Betty Gilpin and stunt win in the Emmy will make me believe in a new season.
