In movie/miniseries I know Drew Barrymore won the Globe and SAG for Grey Gardens but lost to her co-star Jessica Lange at the Emmys, though the Globes and SAG came after the Emmys for Grey Gardens‘ eligibility.January 19, 2014 at 9:24 am #309616
Julianna Margulies won GG and SAG in 2010 (the year the award show was held) and went on to lose Emmy to Kyra Sedgwick later that year. In the same year, Michael C. Hall won GG and SAG, but Bryan Cranston beat him at the Emmy and won his third trophy.
Steve Buscemi won GG and SAG in 2011 before losing Emmy to Kyle Chandler.
Hugh Laurie won GG and SAG in 2007. but lost Emmy to James Spader. All in all, Hugh Laurie won two SAGs, two GGs, and two TCAs without ever winning an Emmy for his performance on House.January 19, 2014 at 9:37 am #309617

Similar to Drew Barrymore in Movie/Mini, Kevin Bacon lost the Emmy for Taking Chance to Brendan Gleeson in 2009, then went on to win the Golden Globe and SAG.January 19, 2014 at 10:13 am #309619
Great job, outsider. It is fascinating to see this situation happening to perennial Emmy winners like Dennis Franz, Helen Hunt and Edie Falco. They kept winning Emmys, so it was easy to forget that they once lost when they were kinda supposed to win.
Frances Conroy won GG and SAG in 2004, but she wasn’t eligible for Emmy that year. Her work for that season was already nominated in 2003 and lost to Edie Falco.January 19, 2014 at 10:36 am #309620

Also, Queen Latifah. She won both after losing the Emmy the year before. She didn’t show up for either win but I think she did show up for the Emmys. For SAG she was even nominated for Hairspray’s ensemble.January 19, 2014 at 4:34 pm #309621
I really hope this thread is bumped when the Emmys come up. Because it seems like every year we spend way too much time arguing with people who think GG + SAG = Emmy. I wish for Hugh Laurie’s and Martin Sheen’s sake that were true. But it is notJanuary 19, 2014 at 6:01 pm #309622
Kathy Bates won Golden globe and SAG award for The Late Shift, but didn’t win the Emmy.January 19, 2014 at 7:15 pm #309623
I feel like I’m cheating the thread with those who won the other way around, but Angelina Jolie also won Globe and SAG in 1999 for Gia after losing the Emmy in 1998 when she had double nominations (Gia and George Wallace, for which she won her first Globe earlier in the year).January 20, 2014 at 3:39 pm #309624
I think Hugh Laurie and Michael C. Hall both Golden Globe and SAG winners but Emmy losers should have won an Emmy. But this year is Bryan Cranston’s year. Now that has won his first Golden Globe and his second SAG he cannot lose again in the Emmys this year. He could, should, must, and will win this year’s Emmys. He deserve it.
