I’d say it’s more of a dramedy.

I don’t think it’s category fraud for the show to go comedy but that might just be me.

I’m not saying it would be huge fraud but given that it’s more of a drama why would it go to comedy when that field is far more competitive than Drama?

Rosy McEwen outshone everyone this season, but Fanning was waaaaay more front and center than in S1, which was Brühl’s season. We like to sh*t on HFPA quite often, but you have to give them one thing: They watch this stuff. And if you watch The Alienist’s second season — which IMO was at the very least on par with S1 — then why wouldn’t you check it off again? They went out of their way to nominate the first season and Brühl in lead after all. I might be completely wrong though.

Oscar FYC -- Give Viola Davis her second Oscar!

Oh. Well I have no idea? It’s competing in Comedy at the moment (according to the predictions centre).

I guess in the long run (when it comes to the Emmys) the field is much clearer for it if it competes in Comedy (there is a possibility the only returning Comedy series from 2019 and/or 2020 is The Kominsky Method) but then again I am not a HBO Max strategist so I don’t know.

FYC OSCARS : VANESSA KIRBY FOR "PIECES OF A WOMAN", AMANDA SEYFRIED FOR "MANK", CHADWICK BOSEMAN FOR "MA RAINEY'S BLACK BOTTOM", PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN (BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY).

I mean, Ted Lasso has episodes focused on the relationship and one with a complete mental breakdown of Sudeikis character, still it’s competing in comedy.

I think I Hate Suzie is going comedy, but again, we had Central Florida and OITNB in recent memory of shows that trade Comedy for Drama.

Are we underestimating Kaley Cuoco? There seems to be some hype around The Flight Attendant.

She’s in my predictions right now, she could prove herself in this and if it gets good reviews, she could very well be praised for breaking the comic arc she had on TBBT for 12 years and land some conversation.

I’m not watching but she is also getting praise for her voice over in Harley Quinn.

The Queen’s Gambit has more than 30.000 reviews on Imdb and still has a score of 8.9. It’ll definitely be a huge fall contender.

It can easily win three awards here (Series, Actress, S. Actress).

In fact I don’t see (right now) how it loses Series and Actress. Blanchett and Haas are threats in Actress but the thing with Taylor-Joy is I feel the industry has been dying to award her something but just haven’t wanted to do so for any of her horror work and The Queen’s Gambit is the definition of HFPA bait.
