The Golden Globes 2020 TV event is now open in the predictions center.January 3, 2020 at 2:03 am #1203257619
Just switched to Unbelievable to match my Toni Collette prediction. Will be pissed if I’m wrong given that I’ve had Chernobyl for so long.January 3, 2020 at 2:06 am #1203257621
Don’t know what to with Drama Actress, Aniston seems like an easy choice but any of the top 4 (Witherspoon being the 5th) seems like they all could be win.January 3, 2020 at 2:42 am #1203257639

I actually think Kidman is the only one who can’t win since they’ve essentially already rewarded her. Witherspoon is unlikely but I wouldn’t be too shocked if they went for her as a way of recognising her for TMS and BLL. It’s between Aniston and Colman really though, with Comer only really a threat if she’s actually set to sweep the season and we just can’t see it yet.January 3, 2020 at 3:02 am #1203257647

Aniston is the obvious choice for actress, followed close on her heels by Colman. I actually think Kidman has a better chance than Witherspoon though, there is zero passion for Witherspoon’s performance (and she’s also coming off a lackluster season season of BLL for her character).
Comer could also happen, but I think the allure of big names such as Aniston and Colman will be too much for the Globes to pass up on.
1. Jennifer Aniston – The Morning Show
2. Olivia Colman – The Crown
3. Jodie Comer – Killing Eve
4. Nicole Kidman – Big Little Lies
5. Reese Witherspoon – The Morning ShowJanuary 3, 2020 at 4:18 am #1203257682
I actually think Drama Actress is between Aniston and Comer. The Crown didn’t seem to make a huge splash when it released (it was always going to get Series/Actress/Actor/Supporting Actress nominations), but the passion doesn’t really seem to be there for the season as a whole? Maybe it’s just me. Anyway, I don’t think the Globes would pass up the opportunity to reward Aniston with Pitt present.January 3, 2020 at 4:28 am #1203257686

I think I’d put Comer and Colman pretty much level with each other.
Comer is coming off her Emmy win and has more passion around her show (however the second season received a more muted response), but Colman is coming off her Oscar win and will no doubt give a great speech and is very well liked.
You’re completely right about Aniston though; it’s too good a headline to pass up on.January 3, 2020 at 4:37 am #1203257690
Bizarrely, the only thing that I makes me really not want to predict Colman is the performance. It was certainly good but I know so many people – myself included – who watched the new season of The Crown and were found it starkly lacking compared to Foy’s.
(Feels kinda crazy to be saying this – if you told me three months ago that I’d be leaning away from Colman and towards Aniston because of the performance I’d have laughed in your face)January 3, 2020 at 4:42 am #1203257698This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.January 3, 2020 at 4:45 am #1203257703
What I do currently like about my predictions is the network split:
HBO – 3
Amazon – 3
Netflix – 2
Hulu – 1
Showtime – 1
FX – 1January 3, 2020 at 6:14 am #1203257764
In my opinion, Toni Collette’s nomination really indicates the support for Unbelievable. But, I realized this category has been rewarding the same winner with the Emmys for the past several years.
By the way, can Bill Hader pull off a win like Aziz Ansari? I think Platt is safe as he both has comedic and musical material.
