Also worth mentioning some HFPA members are actively lobbying for Edgar-Jones. She’s done multiple interviews since the Emmys with some of them and I’ve seen some random praises for her long after the Emmys from HFPA members.

Thats what I think right now. I think Levy or Fanning could upset but Cucco is too strong.

January 23, 2021 at 11:13 am #1203997732I honestly don’t understand why Schitt’s Creek is still considered in the running for the win. Yes it did very well at the Emmys and yes its final season is excellent but it’s very rare for the HFPA to award a show not in its first season in Comedy Series (Drama is a different matter). The only times since 2008 in which they’ve done that are:
– 30 Rock season 3, Glee season 2 Fleabag season 2: Both were the big comedy pop cultural phenomenons of the year like Schitt’s is this year but they also had no strong first season shows to stop them. No first season show was nominated the year 30 Rock won and the only first season show nominated here last year was The Politician. Glee season 2 was also in a similar situation as the only show that was nominated that year that was a first season one was The Big C.
– Modern Family season 3: It was nominated two times prior (losing to Glee both times).
I think Ted Lasso, The Great and maybe even The Flight Attendant and Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist have a greater chance of winning based on this.
Almost certainlyProbably Ted Lasso considering how well its done with audiences and critics and how zeitgeisty and internationally focused it is. Schitt’s will still get at the very least Levy in and maybe O’Hara, D. Levy and Series noms.FYC OSCARS : PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN IN ALL CATEGORIES (ESP. January 23, 2021 at 12:19 pm #1203997776I thing i might trade Nicole Kidman for Ms Blanchett on my predictions, i have a feeling that Nicole can be snubbed
January 23, 2021 at 1:33 pm #1203997857The HFPA can take care of Kidman with The Prom, out of all the top limited contenders, she makes the most sense as snubbee
January 23, 2021 at 4:17 pm #1203998039It pains me because I have been on The Undoing train the longest, but perhaps that also makes it fitting that I should get off first. I fear that the sentiment that the ending sucked (and that the show overall was not that great either) has gone too mainstream for the show to be nominated in series. Not saying that the Globes never nominate bad shows, but I am feeling more like they are going to have to go out of their way to recognize this one with the negative publicity and in its crowded field.
January 23, 2021 at 4:40 pm #1203998050I’m fine with that. The 1000x more deserving Small Axe, I May Destroy You and Normal People can rise.

I think she’d just be snubbed all around in that case, as any passion for her nothing Prom performance is dead.
January 23, 2021 at 9:49 pm #1203998365I got through half of Normal People before I decided I hated it. I thought it was uninteresting and boring. Mescal and Edgar Jones were great and all, but I don’t understand why a teenage love story like this became the most popular show for months on end. EVERYBODY LOVED IT.
The fact it could likely end up in over shows like Little Fires Everywhere and The Undoing…how?! Sure the latter received public criticism of its finale and all but both shows were high class, expensive, luxurious entertainment with talent bursting at the seams. I was excited every week for those shows airing and in the case of the former, was really disappointed that it wouldn’t be returning for a second season. I know it’s all down to preference, but Normal People did not do it for me. I’d sooner nominate Hollywood.
Also, I’ve just finished season 2 of Succession. What a great, fun and engaging show with stellar performances and writing. A show coming remotely close to the level of brilliance of its HBO companion, Big Little Lies? Nope. Not even close. Yet, by all accounts, I am completely wrong!
January 23, 2021 at 11:50 pm #1203998429The Undoing is not the only limited series with big names attached. HFPA might prefer to nominate better acclaimed shows with other big stars since they might be thinking they already did much for Kidman previous years.
January 24, 2021 at 2:19 am #1203998507Normal People is not everyone’s cup of tea. Personally I thought some episodes were boring and dragging but overall I appreciated what it was trying to say and thought the characters were touching. I liked the second half better than the first, especially the episode(s) in Sweden which were highlights for Daisy Edgar-Jones.
January 24, 2021 at 3:01 am #1203998511What I especially like about Normal People is that it covered how social environments and statuses we put on ourselves affect a relationship which I haven’t seen in other romance dramas.
