Does Fanning have any fans on here?

Well there was a time when a lot of users got very angry at the thought of The Great not doing as well as foretold so yeah I’d assume she’s got some fans

William H. Macy in Shameless is one example in the comedy category. They nominated him in season 3 , then dropped him and brought him back in season 8 , so anything can happen this year.

I did not mention people like William H. Macy and Edie Falco because the Globes just used them as filler.

I admit that I completely overlooked that Insecure did not show up in the top-ten lists, which I did not realize because it was not there, ha. So that has shaken my confidence in my prediction of her. Maybe the time for feeling guilty about overlooking Insecure is over. I do want to predict Jane Levy.

I would really, really hate if Christina Applegate missed. She, in my opinion, is the funniest performer on television right now. Linda Cardellini is fantastic and deserves the nomination too; but while Judy as a character is very quirky and zany, the material is a lot more dramatic compared to what Applegate does with Jen. She balances both perfectly. However, that isn’t important. It’s not “Best Comedic Delivery by an Actress”.

I also really hope the Globes take the chance to nominate Jane Levy. She’s been delivering great work for a decade now but never found herself on a project that spoke to awards bodies until now (Suburgatory excluded). Her performances in Evil Dead and Don’t Breathe are brilliant! She held her own against Renee Zellweger in What/If- although that series still puzzles me. Anyway, I hope they reward her.

And in case anyone forgot: REESE WITHERSPOON FOR THE WIN in Limited Actress.

I’m back after a long break, and wondering whether HFPA will nominate critically acclaimed limited series or mediocre shows with big names (The Undoing, Your Honor). I suppose there would be more backlash for them snubbing Small Axe and I May Destroy You than overlooking When They See Us completely last year. I also think despite its Emmy success Unorthodox is done in series race. Unlike in drama and comedy, there are simply too many deserving shows for the limited spot and The Queen’s Gambit will represent Netflix. I also think it’s easily winning series and actress.

Agreed (unfortunately). It reminds me of When They See Us vs Unbelievable last year.

Platt has as much chance of repeating as Jamie Lee Curtis did for Scream Queens S2.

They have Emma Corrin in 7th?!?!?!?!?!

She might be safer for a nom (and win) than Colman is.

Platt has as much chance of repeating as Jamie Lee Curtis did for Scream Queens S2.

As someone who already made the comparison between the two, I still think this is wrong. It’s plain and clear that Platt has more of chance than Curtis did for multiple reasons:
– His show actually made it into series last year, meaning he was not just a namecheck
– He is a rising star and his father is a prominent producer with a lot of influence
– The category is an absolute free for all

I am not predicting him but I maintain that ruling him out completely is foolish.

I’m pretty sure the longer gap between Emmys and winter (now spring) awards will result some shows losing buzz.

I’m pretty sure the longer gap between Emmys and winter (now spring) awards will result some shows losing buzz.

Especially OzarkSchitt’s Creek and Unorthodox (all of which I think have been losing buzz ever since the Emmys came and went).

The problem with Unorthodox and the reason why I think it is behind Normal People is people seem to have forgotten it. Normal People is aided by its recent haul in the top 10 list and also by Mescal and Edgar-Jones’ continued campaigning and their recent casting in high profile projects. None of those are things that help Unorthodox. I think we could see a situation where the Television Academy and the HFPA go the other way round with the Globes only nominating Haas whilst they nominate Normal People in Series (and maybe even Actress) along with Actor.

In fact whilst I’m not predicting it I wouldn’t be surprised if Normal People pulled a Wolf Hall and won.

I disagree on Schitt’s Creek as an “especially”. It has lost buzz of course (how could it not when it peaked so high with that Emmy night) but it’s pretty much the only show that aired in the first half of last year that I still see industry people talking about. I think if it misses the Globes, it is less to do with its lack of buzz and more to do with the show just never fitting with their tastes.

Especially perhaps may have been a tad hyperbolic and whilst there have been more industry people talking about it after its Emmys haul (as is this case when any show wins Series for the first time) it does seem to have underwhelmed. Notice how on critics lists it has received less citations than not only Ted Lasso but also What We Do in the Shadows (whose season aired at the same as Schitt’s Creek‘s did).

Its Emmys success keeps it more relevant in the conversation than Ozark and Unorthodox but just like those two shows have been overtaken in buzz by The Crown and The Queen’s Gambit it appears that Schitt’s has been overtaken as a form of comfort television by Ted Lasso. It’s not its fault but rather the extended timeline’s. Whilst I am still predicting it to win SAG for O’Hara it wouldn’t surprise me if Waddingham got in there and benefitted from a vote-split between O’Hara and Murphy and/or if Ted Lasso took ensemble. I also won’t be surprised if the show only walks away with Supporting Actor at CC and loses Series, Actor and S. Actress to Ted Lasso and then Actress to Cuoco (although I am feeling fairly confident in my prediction that O’Hara takes CC).

On a separate note has anyone considered the possibility they might just nominate the two Levy’s and then give Dan the supporting win? He makes the most sense to win supporting imo (even though I am not predicting him for the nomination) and whilst I am predicting O’Hara it won’t surprise me if they snubbed her (if she gets in she’s probably winning or at least coming close to winning like Matthew Rhys).
