I think SNL will get 5 guest actors in and Anthony Head will be the sole guest nominee from an actual comedy series in that category.
2019 with 4 SNLs, 2 Maisel’s and a Peter McNicol teas.
ReplyCopy URLApril 4, 2021 at 2:38 pm #1204175660I have Chapelle, Baldwin, Mulaney, Levy and Jean-Page (in that order). I am very tempted to swap one of them out for Martin Short but I can’t decide who yet. Maybe Levy? I do feel somewhat confident that Jean-Page will pull a Sandra Oh and get double nominated so I guess I should move him higher.
yeah totally. The fact that predicting FIVE snl guest actors doesn’t seem crazy is indicate of how weak this field is lol.
ReplyCopy URLApril 5, 2021 at 7:38 am #1204179156Hmm Netflix have updated their FYC page for Ratched and have listed Sharon Stone as a guest actress in spite of her having appeared in 4 out of 8 of the episodes of the show. So it looks like they’re trying to make an appeal like Amazon did with Sterling K. Brown last year?
Sophie Okonedo and Corey Stoll are their other guest submissions.

HBO should really try to appeal as well for Jamie Chung.

April 5, 2021 at 2:52 pm #1204180509Correct me if I’m wrong but out of Brown, Stone, Chung & Fennell. Was Brown the only one not to receive a main credit billing?

Thing is it’s not really that weak, it’s just lacks the type of contenders that NATAS respond to here.
Off the top of my head
- Harvey Gullien – Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist
- Brandon Michael Hall – Search Party
- Nick Kroll – Dickinson
- James Lance – Ted Lasso
- Felix Mallard – Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist
- Yuji Okumoto – Cobra Kai
- Michael Palin – Staged
Bam, that’s a solid six right away.

(but utterly realistic).
ReplyCopy URLApril 7, 2021 at 1:42 am #1204183195I really disliked Chapelle’s hosting gig and long monologue and was exhausted by Baldwin’s Trump around his first win, so I’ll take anyone but those two (well, and Bill Burr).
ReplyCopy URLApril 7, 2021 at 9:40 am #1204183660Out of curiosity… what’s a guest performance that you all would love to see nominated but know that it has little to no chance? For me it’s Ashlee Grubs from Pen15 who played Maura. She was so hilariously realistic yet frightening at the same time and gave a very nuanced performance for someone so young.

I was gutted to see Rebecca Humphries not put forward for her role in The Crown.
I honestly can’t think of one for comedy, the only one that comes to mind is in a BBC show not eligible (Natalie Cassidy in the last episode of Mandy, for any Brits who saw that) – so I’ll backdate to two years ago, this Jackie Hoffman guest role in The Other Two. A work of art.

I’m just catching up on Search Party and I’d love to see Shalita Grant, Louie Anderson, and Susan Sarandon land nominations. Grant appeared in too many episodes, though. Sarandon will definitely be eligible, but do we know if both Seasons 3 and 4 will be submitted? If so, it’s a shame Michaela Watkins will have appeared in too many episodes for Guest, too – she’s overdue for some industry accolades.
