I have seen most of the Comedy Guest Actress submissions and below are my thoughts:

Tina Fey was in several sketches including the Sarah Palin, Q&A with the audience in her opening, and singing Girls Just Wanna Fun. This submission was not as strong as others and I do not see her prevailing for this.

Tiffany Haddish was hilarious in her opening. I applaud her for submitting herself when she was not submitted. However, it was quite obvious that she glued to the cue cards and that took away the humor.

Wanda Sykes is someone that is hilarious, but I wish that Black-ish would explore more with her character. Her scenes were at the office and did not give her much to do.

Maya Rudolph should have been nominated last year for her Dionne Warwick on Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. She has a decent amount of screen time, but this role did not give her a lot to do. The funniest moment was when she was talking with while eating a burrito.

Molly Shannon is in the lead for me on this because this was a hilarious performance and it would be great to see her win for this role on Will & Grace.

I still need to see Jane Lynch’s submission.

    My rankings based on submissions:

    1. Molly Shannon
    2. Tina Fey
    3. Maya Rudolph
    4. Tiffany Haddish
    5. Wanda Sykes

Estelle Harris from Roseanne should have been nominated and would have been my winner based on her episode.

My predictions are Abraham, Wiley, Haddish, and Hader.

Note to myself: Don’t ever feed the trolls. Don’t get involved in others drama. Don’t let myself be swayed by others predictions, trust my gut more often!

Note to all others: If you don’t happen to like me, ignore me. It is that simple.

Wiley for Guest Actress – Drama
Lynch for Guest Actress – Comedy
Hader for Guest Actor – Comedy

No idea who to go with for Drama Guest Actor. I keep switching between Britton, Simpson, Abraham and Goode. Right Now I have Simpson, but really any of the 4 can win this and I won’t be surprised. Such a tough category

Can anyone give me reasons to predict and to not predict Simpson? Kind of like a pros and cons? Need help deciding where to place him.

Even though he has worked with everyone, I still see Jimmi Simpson as kind of a whippersnapper.  Matthew Goode faces slap-the-stud.  This is between Cameron Britton and F. Murray Abraham.  Like many categories this year, it just comes down to how much you think the Emmys are going to be the worst this time.  Are they going to be the worst and award another unnecessary cameo or are they going to do the right thing and award a breakout performance in a show with no other nominations?

Patinkin got nominated, Groff didn’t. Also, Abraham is such a veteran, plus an Oscar winner, plus he was even in the Season finale of Curb Your Enthusiasm which is Miranda’s Comedy Guest Actor submission, not that episodes matter. His cameo wouldn’t be more or less weird than Martindale winning for a couple years for doing nothing but look menacing while talking to Langella. This isn’t even Abraham’s 1st nomination for this role in this category. He lost last time, but I think a general lack of passion for anything Mindhunter-related, Goode being too subtle, Simpson just not having enough of a name or the material to potentially help, and I legit keep forgetting those nothing This Is Us cameos were nominated. McRaney was easily better than Jones, but it wasn’t enough. McRaney is the Jenrette of his category every bit as much as Abraham. McRaney now has to deal with potential vote-splitting from Supporting nominee last year Jones, so I think Abraham is the safest bet and at the same time one of the weirdest saddest wins of the year.

Right now I am giving the edge to Britton in Guest Actor because he got in on performance. He didn’t get in because his show swept in nominations or because he is some kind of TV vet, he got in because people LOVED his performance. And I believe that those people who really loved his performance will vote for him. But like in Guest Actress, the problem is that they love their TV veterans. McRaney, Azaria, Cathey… Britton is not well-known and that could unfortunately hurt him. I can’t believe we are talking about Abraham possibly having a chance, ugh. He does NOTHING, zero. But I would not be surprised at all if it happened

    Matthew Goode faces slap-the-stud

But after Alexander Skarsgard and Riz Ahmed, can we still be so sure of this taking Goode out of the running?

But that is the point – if he has worked with everyone, won’t the Academy see him in a different way than you or I? I feel like we are severely underestimating him (he has no business being 6th in the odds).

My only concern with him is that I’m not so sure about Westworld winning any major Emmys after buzz for the show being lower and the reception for the season being mixed – but then again, the show did get around 20 nominations.

I just recently watched Martindale’s cameo and it was way better than Abraham’s cameo. He just stands there, that’s it.

Emmy voters didn’t watch either Martindale episode and if they watched Abraham’s episode he wouldn’t have even been nominated. Name-checks go a long way, no matter how annoying that can be.
