This was their best episode and based on the promo next week’s seem even more ambitious.

Watchmen has become one my favourites of 2019 too. You can definitely see some Lindelof influences that made Lost and The Leftovers so fantastic.
Jean Smart and Tim Blake Nelson’s character centred episodes have been the highlights.

Very excited for tonight’s black and white episode that was singled by the critics. I was wondering what inspired this creative choice and now I have some ideas why after last week’s episode (I have not watched the trailer btw).

This episode was pure perfection. It was mesmerizing to see how all the small details in previous episodes were actually clues to what’ll happen in this episode. I can’t even imagine what next episodes will offer.

This show is operating at a level above anything else streaming/on TV right now (including The Crown). I can’t believe how talented the writers are to be able to craft such a rich story that integrates with the source material but is completely original.

Got to watch the past two episodes last night. May go into more detail later, but they were both wonderful. Last night would be a very deserving nominee in writing and especially directing.

This is just fascinating tv with fantastic actors.

What I particularly adored in this episode was how everything Will Reeves had committed was actually a reflection of all the violence and anger projected at him due to his race. This made a strong case on dealing with themes like racism and violence which wasn’t explained that much until now.

So I sorta fell asleep tonight watching episode 5 (I blame my having a long work day lol) but episode 6…biiiiiiiiiiiiiiish. It was probably one of the best episodes I’ve seen this year (top 5) and it really brought out this show’s phenomenal writing and direction. The way it handled racism (basically what boss said above), the Oscars could never appreciate and would probably go out of their way to reward another Green Book if this was offered up in film form. Next week’s episode looks pretty weird and I’m soooo down.

“No user starts this shady” - someone culturally relevant.

Also got banned because...reasons? So, I guess ciao.

Stephen Williams for the drama directing win! Some glorious tracking shots (the character switches in the same shot reminded me of Sense8).
Glad to see this show making so many Top 10 lists! I need this to not just be a mini-series!

I liked this episode very much, but I think it had the unfortunate effect of following the mindblowing genius that was the previous episode. Still, this was another very entertaining hour of HBO goodness. Regina King has been great all throughout the series, but this is where she truly shined her brightest. We saw sides of her character that weren’t fully explored until now, and she nailed it. Hong Chau was also very good. It’s nice that she got the second biggest showcase here after being sidelined for the two episodes after her great introduction. I guess the one problem with this show is a reflection of its high quality. The cast is uniformly excellent, but with all these extremely important characters, some people don’t get the proper time to shine each episode. While on the topic of wanting to see more of these actors, I have two nitpicks for an otherwise great episode. The first is that Ozymandias felt underutilized this episode. The courtroom scene was fun and Irons’ acting was great even though he only had one line. But the problem is he only had one line. And a fart. It’s a bit annoying that his story didn’t really move forward all that much this week since he was completely absent from last week’s episode. I figured he’d have already gotten a spotlight episode similar to Laurie and Wade by now. I know they’re definitely building him up for something big, I’m just hoping we start to get the payoff by next episode. The other nitpick is how Wade was completely absent this week. After a beautiful showcase for Tim Blake Nelson two weeks ago, I would’ve liked to have seen him again after he was nowhere to be seen in the last episode. Hopefully we find out what’s going on with Looking Glass next episode, and hopefully he gets a decent amount of material as a makeup for his absence. I also would’ve liked to have seen a bit more of Louis Gossett Jr. We got to see a lot of Will last week, but unfortunately, not a whole lot of him. Hopefully we get to see Will take on a more active role in the next two episodes., so that Gossett Jr. gets more time to shine, cause he fits this role like a glove. It feels crazy how close were getting to the end with so many questions still unanswered. But since the show has been consistently excellent so far, I trust the writers to wrap everything up nicely, especially since this was apparently written as a just one season. The preview for next week is clearly trying to keep things under wraps for the most part, since they only showed one storyline. I think and hope that we’ll be seeing other ones next week, as this was already a very Angela centered episode, and I don’t think they’ll do another episode that’s almost entirely flashbacks since they did that a week ago. Anyway, much like every other week, I had a great time with Watchmen, and I’m super excited to see where the story goes next.
