Leading Actress in a Drama Series: MJ Rodriguez
Honestly, i can’t put into words how much MJ has been the heart of this show for 3 years and how she is inspiring in every single way.
It would mean a lot for many of us, Queer folks, seeing one trans woman of color take this prize, and her performance is deserving of every achievement, specially on her submitted episode, where she wears Blanca like a glove and shows how much a figure like that could save queer kids, the decision is easy!
Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series : Hannah Waddingham
Hannah Waddingham’s performance on Ted Lasso never fails to amaze me, and as I’m rewatching the show i can’t help it but to feel more and more draw to her take on Rebecca, a character with a lot going on inside her, and that Hannah masterfully captures it all, we can feel Rebecca’s sadness, we can feel her growing over the season and we feel and gratefully see she making her marc into a sexist world of sport, also, her singing deserves an Emmy on its own! Please don’t miss out.
Leading Actress in a Limited Series: Elizabeth Olsen
I feel like people forget a lot on this heavy packed lineup how Lizzie was a powerful, maybe it’s because of all the MCU stuff, or the superhero thing, i don’t know. But her capture of grief (two times in a row! she did THAT in Sorry For Your Loss as well) is so good, specially on ‘Previously On’ when we see her dealing with two different types of grief, and how she nailed the difference between them.
On top of all that she has comic timing? Who knew! She was SERVING on the sitcoms phase and at that moment where all was beyond explanation still, she transitioned between comedy and drama in a heartbeat, and never failed to do that with grace, something i also feel for Michaela Cool, but if i have to choose one, it’s Olsen.
Please, give your vote to her.
Sorry for my English, not my first language, and be well.
All things Succession, Severance, Ted Lasso, The Great and The White Lotus! Also, Colin Firth and Janelle James while you're at it.August 19, 2021 at 6:17 am #1204404390

Lead Actress, Comedy – Kaley Cuoco, The Flight Attendant
What an incredible stretch for her and a quantum leap in her career for a seasoned TV veteran. Range and impact for days.
Supporting Actress, Drama – Gillian Anderson, The Crown
A controlled, measured, intelligent characterization that never resorted to “Look at me in a red wig!” when it easily could have.
Lead Actress, Movie/Mini – Anya Taylor-Joy, The Queen’s Gambit
TQG was the show of the year for me, and what a journey this young woman took us on with never a false note.August 19, 2021 at 7:31 am #1204404486

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series, Anthology Series or Movie – Michaela Coel for I May Destroy You
(It’s often easy to brush aside lead performances of auteur-driven pieces based on the creative’s real life experience as not being that much of an achievement but this couldn’t be further from the case with Michaela Coel’s performance in I May Destroy You this year. As Arabella Essiedu, Coel does not portray a woman recovering from the most traumatising event of her lifetime with a one note depiction of pain and anguish. Rather instead she weaves the trauma her character faces on screen in a depiction of a year in which a writer and London native from a working class background starts to overwhelm herself too much as she tries to reclaim a sense of normality in a life that has faced irreversible changes. As Arabella the writer, Coel plays a character who almost belongs in a comedy with her idiosyncratic choices in order to stop her book deal falling through after missing one too many deadlines. As Arabella the avenger in the episode “Social Media is a Great Way to Connect”, Coel plays a character whose own trauma results in her lashing out against a friend who has made a stupid mistake instead of being supportive and reverent as they try to overcome their own recent traumatising experiences. As Arabella the romantic, Coel plays a character who leads them cling to a sense of intimacy and normality and consequently also towards toxic relationships. It’s with the exploration of each area of Arabella’s character and Coel’s talent as a performer to make each of these facets run cohesively that she deserves to win the Emmy for Actress in a Limited Series, Anthology Series or Movie for such a standout performance that will be remembered for time to come.)
Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series – O-T Fagbenle for The Handmaid’s Tale
(Fagbenle has shown and continued to show throughout the four season run of his show his ability to make the most out of every piece of material his character Luke Bankole is provided. With his submission “Home” he manages to find the correct balance need to portray a character who although he now one constant fear he has had since the show has been allayed, he is still conflicted with his emotions. Happiness quickly amalgamates into depression and despair as he is re-traumatised by the presence of a familiar character in his life who has faced years of abuse. Something that is particularly seen in Fagbenle’s performance in a scene as minor as this one. )
