Well, the title is pretty much self-explanatory. I wonder, has there ever been a program that won every one of its nominations, in the main and/or creative categories? I assume that there must be programs with, like, two nominations that get to win both, but I am asking of some higher calibre wins, if there are any.

Thank you very much in advance!

Angels in America went 7/7 in the main categories, although it lost a few at the Creative Arts. I think at least one other program managed that total as well?

Handmaid’s Tale winning all 5 main categories it was eligible for last year was impressive too, even if I would’ve liked to see some of the other great first year shows get recognition

An Evening with Fred Astaire had the biggest clean sweep in Emmy history, going 9 for 9 in 1959. I think that the second biggest was Julie Andrews…The Sound of Christmas, which went 5 for 5 in 1988. Somehow, it seems to be these variety specials that manage to do this. Cirque Du Soleil’s Dralion went 3 for 3 in 2001, for example. But my favorite stat is that Gilmore Girls has gone undefeated at the Emmys, winning its only nomination in 2004.

All In The Family won Comedy Series, Lead Actor, Lead Actress, Supporting Actor, Writing and Directing in 1978. Poor Sally Struthers lost Supporting Actress.

All In The Family in 1972 won Series, Writing, Directing, Actor, Actress and tied in Supporting Actress.

Was Meryl going lead considered category fraud? I haven’t seen the mini-series but did see the Andrew Garfield and Nathan Lane revival in May and it seemed pretty evident that Harper was the female lead and the role Meryl played was supporting, but maybe the HBO version was different.

I can do that one better – both Moral Orel and Titan Maximum have won one Emmy with zero total nominations. They both won in juried categories – Moral Orel for Individual Achievement in Animation in 2009, and Titan Maximum for Variety Program/Special Costumes (the category is also open to reality and stop-motion animation programs) in 2010 (back before it became an Area category).

In 2011, Modern Family won for supporting actor, actress, comedy series, directing and writing (no one on their show submits for lead). Not sure how well they did in the creative arts though.

It is fraud on both hers, Thompson’s, and Pacino’s roles. The leads were Justin Kirk and Mary Louise Parker but name recognition triumphed over reality.

0/7 at the Creative Arts (technically 0/6 doubled up in Picture Editing)

    • Nathan Lane lost Guest to Timberlake for SNL
    • Elizabeth Banks lost Guest to Paltrow for Glee
    • Lost Casting to Glee as well
    • Both the Picture Editing lost to HIMYM
    • Lost Sound Mixing to Family Guy
    • Lost Art Direction to Boardwalk Empire
