is Malsany supporting or lead ?July 7, 2020 at 8:24 am #1203571971
Good episode. The murder case is deepening in complexity, and I’m curious to see where this all goes. I’m finding myself far more interested in the supporting characters right now than I am in the lead Perry Mason, which is never a good sign. Where is Sister Alice’s series, or Paul Drake’s, or Luca Gibbs’s? (Veronica Falcón is sensational here, BTW.) We all know the answer to that and why, but whatever. John Lithgow was memorable in this episode as well.July 12, 2020 at 7:12 am #1203582343
Episode Title: “Chapter Four”
Synopsis: Mason and Strickland lean on Virgil, again, for extra-legal assistance. Following Sister Alice’s recovery from a frightening episode, Birdy urges her daughter to renounce her claims about baby Charlie. E.B. faces the reality of his financial situation and takes his frustrations out on Della.

Major episode for John Lithgow! That last scene, hmmm. This will change the entire series if the cliffhanger is genuine next episode. Not sure what I think about it yet.July 13, 2020 at 8:48 am #1203583646
The show is getting better week after week, but still is just ok.July 13, 2020 at 9:10 am #1203583691

I have to agree. I keep wanting more from the show. Something just isn’t coming together… I feel like the weakest link might be the writing. The central case isn’t as exciting or filled with enough twists, turns and reveals as it should be. The stakes don’t seem high enough. I see why the critics were lukewarm with their reviews.
I’ll stick with it for now bc I like the cast, but I hope things start to liven up with the narrative.July 13, 2020 at 3:24 pm #1203584473
The show is really getting better and I agree with some people calling it as True Detective season 4July 13, 2020 at 6:05 pm #1203584673
Well the character is doing interviews so I guess is not a cliffhanger after all. Which is surprising.July 14, 2020 at 3:26 pm #1203585645
It really wasn’t much of a cliffhanger tbh…
The show is great on period details and Masalany in particular is intriguing but the writers do not know how to craft a compelling crime mystery which is too bad. The central case is way too straight forward so far for this kind of show.July 18, 2020 at 10:26 pm #1203591622
Episode Title: “Chapter Five”
Synopsis: Mason and Della run a solemn errand up north, while Strickland tracks down the sergeant originally assigned to the Dodson case. Before returning to L.A., Mason drops in on his ex-wife Linda and son Teddy, hoping to make amends for his recent shortcomings. Disturbed by Emily’s blind faith in Sister Alice and her new lawyer, Frank Dillon, Della sets out to find Mrs. Dodson more capable legal representation.

Gonna miss John Lithgow on here quite a bit. He brought a level of stature to the series that will be sadly missed. I see how this exit brings things forward, but yeah. That was a very hamfisted way to turn Perry Mason into a lawyer and finally get him into the courtroom. I’d rather have Mason be a stellar P.I. than a fraudulent lawyer. Mehhhh. But yay Justin Kirk? Maybe he’ll bring a spark to the proceedings that’s desperately needed at this stage.
