I’m loving this too! Archie Panjabi is so fantastic, she should be nominated for comedy supporting actress instead of Kate McKinnon.

Nice to see some positivity in this forum. I’m loving the show too. Finally got round to watching it yesterday. I’m getting flashbacks to the Barry season 1 forum, people were critical of that show at the time, saying it was more dramatic than funny. But I love that show and I’m having a blast with this one too. Gleeson and Wever are so great together, and I hope this show gets some major nominations.

Thank you! “Run” is excellent and has been so since the pilot.

I love the fourth episode and it made me excited for the next episode in which we’re going to finally see PWB. This episode showed why I want to see the show and invest on watching the whole season.

I’m digging this and not necessarily worrying about if this is a drama or comedy, or really wondering where the story is going because I’m enjoying the chemistry between Wever and Gleeson (and now Panjabi) and am interested in seeing where this story goes as the character motivations are coming to the forefront. I think the show has made good arguments for why these characters shouldn’t actually be a couple you root for, and I’m finding it interesting to see how that realization will evolve as (seemingly) their rash runaway plans get derailed and further convolute their personal lives.

I enjoy the show, but I just cannot fathom how this could be considered a comedy…they could have said that it would be 1 season (I don’t really know how it will carry on for multiple seasons) & run (no pun intended) it in limited.

Four out of seven episodes have aired and despite the talent involved I am not enjoying it as I expected. The fourth episode’s writer, Georgia Pritchett, has also written Succesion’s “Safe Room” and that is thousand times funnier than this. Even though, it’s not trying to be funny as Jays has said it’s hard to see what’s the point of it all. I am waiting for the eligibility period to end to take this out from my predictions. Moreover, Wever’s name may not be strong enough to be nominated without the show.

I enjoy it, but I really don’t know how to feel about it without having seen the whole season. Emmy-wise, it’s probably doomed, but I still think anything can happen since HBO doesn’t have a strong comedy contender.

I think this is the most out of the box show of this year.
I think it’s absolutely well written, fast paced and well acted.
I’m really enjoying it. It’s like a mix of Gone Girl and a classy Fifty Shades of Grey.

What the hell did I just watch? The answer is the sixth and seventh episodes of Run that close out the first season. They were ostensibly stuck in post-production, but HBO was wise not to give them to the critics for review in advance of the season.

By the sixth episode, the show realizes that it is not enough just to follow Billy and Ruby running, so there is a suddenly a considerable subplot with the taxidermist played by Phoebe Waller-Bridge and a sheriff named Babe Cloud. It is a much weaker episode than the five before it, despite it being the only episode other than the pilot written by the creator; she did not do the finale, nor did original director Kate Dennis. There is a lot of yelling and it is hard to get behind Ruby as a terrible mother. In hindsight, the show jumped the shark in the fifth episode, but it was not certain at the time.

Then I watched the finale, which is the shortest episode. I cannot see why anyone would want to watch a second season. It is not just the limited premise not lending itself to longevity, but the finale made me rethink the season that I had just watched. I now do not know what the point of it was or what it was trying to say. It does not wrap up as neatly as a miniseries, so it seems like they want a second season, but why? The dissatisfaction that people got from the slap at the end of The Good Wife comes to mind, albeit people liked the slap, but there seemed to be something of a lost feeling of what about everything else that was happening?

I have dropped this from my series predictions, moved Merritt Wever down to sixth and I will be taking it out of contention for writing. Happy to report that Archie Panjabi did end up being guest-eligible though. FYC!

Oh wow, that’s an interesting turn of events. Now I may watch to see it go off-track (ok pun kind of intended).

Yes, I am happy to see that many people have said nice things after my comment, although, Riley worried me with his tease, but I will wait to see for myself, obviously, this show is going to be incredibly divisive even with its niche audience, so yes, his awards chances are pretty thin.

I’ve grown to like this show for what it is. It doesn’t deserve any Emmy nomination over Insecure but it will probably get in because it is made by white people for white people.
