After being canceled, HBO is giving Hello Ladies a movie to wrap things up. I loved this show and saw no reason why it should have been canceled but I am happy that HBO is giving them more time in some fashion. Could this be a dark horse in the coming Emmy race for Stephen Merchant for Best Actor?

    Trailer is here

It will air Saturday, November 22nd

Yeah it is odd that it is on a Sat. I guess with Real Time on Friday and Newsroom/Comeback/Getting On on Sunday I guess it is the only time it could fit in

There isn’t anything too odd about HBO airing an original movie on a Saturday.

Clear History premiered on a Saturday in 2013. As did Mary & Martha & Muhammad’s Ali Greatest Fight.

The HBO “dumping ground” is Monday nights.

Mondays are their documentaries. It is also odd that they wouldn’t do it the week after for a big post Thanksgiving boost

I meant for things like Doll & Em, not the docs. I don’t think they have high ratings hopes for this, so post-Thanksgiving probably wouldn’t make much of a difference? I’d be shocked if they didn’t marathon the series leading up to the premiere.

It was good. I think I would have liked it much better if it was broken up into episodes rather than a movie. Loved the Allison Tolman and Nicole Kidman cameos!

It was mostly good but got a bit heavy. I wasn’t sure if merchant could handle the shift but he did well.

I thought this was pretty good, eventhough it went dark and cliche by the end, Merchant did fine with it, I felt he wasn’t too happy about ending the show too soon but I kind of enjoyed it, the theme is very heavy and was handled well in my opinion. That was definetely a show that makes you stop and think.
