The first season is out now. The trailers looked really promising and I like Zoe Kravitz’s acting in general so I hope it is good.
ReplyFebruary 17, 2020 at 3:16 am #1203349256I just finished watching the first two episodes and IT IS SO GOOD! Zoe Kravitz is killing it! This show is definitely in my favorites list for this year. Although I don’t think this show will be embraced by Emmy voters. It is so offbeat from their taste and the shows they nominate.

What a showcase for Zoë Kravitz! This role was tailor made for her and you can tell she’s giving everything over to it. This is better than anything she’s ever done on “Big Little Lies,” even the more dramatic moments that are more akin to the “BLL” performance. Da’Vine Joy Randolph is a perfect scene stealer and she’s really building on the buzz from her “Dolemite Is My Name” breakthrough last fall. David H. Holmes, Jake Lacy and Kingsley Ben-Adir are very good as well. The show gets stronger as the season progresses, and I’m very happy that the set up is there for season two and beyond. It was utterly delightful and a really fun watch, and I can see myself going back to rewatch the season soon. As far as awards attention goes, it probably won’t happen unless the buzz builds up soon, but I really hope audiences catch on and this show becomes a word of mouth hit, because it is definitely one of the best Hulu originals in a long time.

I really can’t believe viewership was so low that they couldn’t justify another season, and reviews were so positive that I’m honestly really shocked with this decision. Damn, this one hurts.
ReplyCopy URLAugust 5, 2020 at 8:28 pm #1203629393One of the better comedies of the year, so this is disappointing!
ReplyCopy URLAugust 5, 2020 at 9:43 pm #1203629426Cancelling this was a fail of Hulu. This definitely should of gotten a season 2. They had the reviews And I’m Zoe has Batman coming up that would give it more exposure
ReplyCopy URLAugust 5, 2020 at 11:24 pm #1203629492Yet to finish the season but the episodes I’ve seen so far were really good. How are they renewing Shrill and Dollface and not this?
ReplyCopy URLAugust 6, 2020 at 2:22 am #1203629617This such a bummer. This show was one of my favorite comedies of this season. I hope Hulu reverses its decision after the backlash they are receiving right now.
