I’ve seen the whole series. I can’t say anything because it’s still under embargo. But I can’t wait to see the reaction.

It’s going to be wild a week from now when the embargo on Hollywood ends. Murphy also produced the doc, ‘A Secret Love’ which I’ve seen a lot of internet chatter about, and that also drops the 29th. Not going to lie, I teared up watching the trailer for that.

Just read that THR article. Props to Corenswet (and I think Pope too, but he wasn’t mentioned) for getting Exec. Producer credit and backend points. Pretty big for this being his ?first? lead tv role.

There were not end credits back when I watched the screeners, so I only knew that Darren Criss was an executive producer because that was in the media.  Just watched the end credits that have since been added though and both David Corenswet and Jim Parsons are also executive producers; Jeremy Pope is not a producer.

Who knows what actually happened, but I wonder how much of a producer Corensweat actually was. In the THR article he says that Murphy “gave him an executive producer credit”.

Thanks for the clarification! I assumed that Pope was too since I think there was mention of exec. producer credits when Criss, Corenswet and Pope were announced as the ‘leads’, but I guess I recalled incorrectly.

From the trailer, I could see Criss and Corenswet both in lead. Pope appears to be more supporting, though the series could be totally different. Not much has been said about Samara Weaving in this so far. She was soooooo great in Ready or Not and The Babysitter, I see her doing amazing under Murphy’s direction.

Critic Reviews are still embargoed until Wed. the 29th, but members of CAPE (Coalition of Asian Pacifics in Entertainment) received access to screeners for the first three episodes of Hollywood this past weekend – no embargo. Here are some of the reactions that I could find on Twitter.

Universally positive reception with respect to the portrayal of Anna May Wong by actress Michelle Krusiec, as well as a lot of optimistic commentary with regards to Darren Criss’ biracial (half-white, half-filipino) white-passing character, Raymond. I dont believe Krusiec meets the % threshold necessary in terms of screentime to qualify though, someone can clarify that I’m sure. There were also some tweets highlighting how good Corenswet, McDermott and Parsons were in those twitter threads. Which is in line with some of the intel we received, taking into consideration that actors like Mantello and Taylor have their material in later episodes, if I recall correctly. So this may give us a little glimpse into how the industry may respond to Hollywood considering that there is some overlap between CAPE and the TV Academy.

My biggest worry about this show was that they would fumble the racial politics (as Murphy shows sometimes do), but it sounds like at least in terms of Wong and Criss’ character, they got what they were going for. I definitely feel more relieved now and a lot more excited for the show.

Emmys FYC: Maya Erskine in PEN15, Paapa Essiedu in I May Destroy You, Keeley Hawes in It's a Sin, Carl Lumbly in TFATWS, Cristin Milioti in Made for Love, Elizabeth Olsen in WandaVision, Billie Piper in I Hate Suzie, Hailee Steinfeld in Dickinson, William Zabka in Cobra Kai

This is some good news especially to read good things from Krusiec’s Anna May Wong. But let us remember that the positive reviews are coming from an organization which looks delighted to have been represented well in a TV series that may have otherwise easily white-washed them out. I hope she has enough material to be considered for the Emmys. She and Queen Latifah’s Hattie McDaniel are my bets for Hollywood‘s acting awards derby and I hope Ryan Murphy and co. didn’t reduce them to just cameos for the sake of their characters. Judith Light only has 2 episodes from The Assassination of Gianni Versace but those were impactful performances. I checked Krusiec’s IMDB page and it seems like she’ll be in 3 episodes. I hope one of those are highlights. Either way, these makes me excited for the series.

Jeremy Pope could end up being a big star. He ticks a few boxes. Not to mention, he’s already been nominated for two Tonys, after only being in two Broadway shows. So he’s already got at least one awards body on his side.

Yeah, I’m rooting really hard for him. He’s talented as hell, gorgeous and all around fabulous. And two Tony noms in a single year is impressive. He’s iT
