I feel like “The Killing” had such a weird life on TV and with the Emmys. It got a ton of nominations for its 1st Season, including Writing, Picture Editing, and Directing nods for the acclaimed Pilot, plus 2 acting nods for Lead Actress Mireille Enos and Supporting Actress Michelle Forbes, plus even a Casting nod. However, many critics and fans found the Season 1 finale a massive dud due to the lack of revealing the much-hyped mystery “who killed Rosie Larson?” I remember the trailers and previews for this show for the first season airing on AMC, you couldn’t miss it. Then, it just kind of seemed to disappear from the face of the Earth as far as I could tell. The only thing I heard about the later seasons was that apparently Peter Sarsgaard gave an amazing performance as a killer.

How does “The Killing” hold up overall? I kept assuming it was merely cancelled and being somewhat surprised when I kept finding out it wasn’t when Seasons 3 and 4 were happening, but what to those of you think of its legacy who actually watched it?

Note to myself: Don’t ever feed the trolls. Don’t get involved in others drama. Don’t let myself be swayed by others predictions, trust my gut more often!

Note to all others: If you don’t happen to like me, ignore me. It is that simple.

Just watch the Danish one. Actually, just watch Danish shows. Borgen is brilliant, Unit One is Mads Mikkelsen’s breakthrough, The Killing has good sweaters, The Bridge … is overrated. But still just watch Scandinavian shows if you want crime dramas (or political dramas in the case of Borgen).

I have only seen the first 2 seasons and I enjoyed them. Season 1 was amazing! Season 2 was great as well but not as good. It was a very “small” show that felt way too realistic at times.

So… you don’t think the US version of The Killing holds up well at all then?

I always thought “The Killing” was fairly lame. Interesting set up, but very archetypical characters, cliched story turns, one-note tone. Didn’t buy the hype from the jump and gave up half way through season 2. I did watch season 4, which I thought was solid enough but still not special or unique. And yes, Skarsgard very very good and awards worthy.
