The Golden Globes are fickle. They give multiple nominations to some contenders, but for many other’s it’s one and done. Who do you think will be out this year among last year’s winners.
I, for one, am worried about “The Affair.” I love the show, but last year it had just aired leading up to the nominations, so it had the maximum buzz it could get. Then it didn’t pan out at the Emmys a few months later, so I worry Golden Globe voters will move on from it completely this year.November 2, 2015 at 6:02 pm #364466
I am worried about Jane the Virgin. It has an even better second season which is rare for a breakout show like this. Also with it being on the CW usually they fizzle. However, this rose up even higher, so I am worried that this show will fizzle with no nominations at the globes.November 2, 2015 at 7:21 pm #364467
Jane the Virgin has everything going for it….to be dropped completely. The Globes have very little commitment to their winners and Gina Rodriguez won out of tradition for that young new star, not because they were so in love with the show. I doubt it gets nominated.
The Affair is almost on the same boat as Jane.November 2, 2015 at 8:08 pm #364468
Yeah I’m fairly confident that they will completely forget about The Affair and Jane the Virgin entirely.
Not sure about Transparent. It’s good that it’s premiering in December since it’ll be fresh. I assume season 2 will be eligible in time for voting? Trans issues are more mainstream now than ever and their success at the Emmys could get lead to follow-up nominations for the show and Tambor. But if the eligibility is weird it could complicate things? Idk.
Kevin Spacey ~could~ get another nomination but they may think House of Cards is old hat now.
This is why I kind of love the Golden Globes for the sheer amount of turnover every year.November 2, 2015 at 8:45 pm #364469
I love The Affair, but I dont see it getting back into series. Wilson could get back in though.
Jane The Virgin has a good shot of getting back into series and Rodriguez. It is still a young and buzzed about show with a diverse cast.
Give Paul Thomas Anderson an Oscar.November 3, 2015 at 10:06 am #364470
Based on what happened to Brooklyn Nine-Nine the year after it won (SNUBBED across the board), I don’t see The Affair or Jane the Virgin receiving nominations let alone winning this year. While The Affair has been mostly good so far, the buzz has been pretty nonexistent. Jane, likewise.
Jeffrey Tambor will likely be nominated again for Transparent.
I don’t see kevin spacey winning again for HoC, and I hope he gets snubbed. Over it.November 3, 2015 at 3:52 pm #364471
Thinking about it, The Affair might be skipped again, though I don’t think it should be. I think the second season, so far, is better than the first. Maura Tierney is really good this year, too.November 3, 2015 at 3:52 pm #364472
