So, I know this is a bit early but a few weeks ago, I think TvLine asked Peter Nowalk about season 5, and he said several things (I can’t find the link, will post it once I find it):

He actually knows what is happening in the flash-forward this time, as in he knows everything that’s going to happen, so he won’t develop it as he writes the season. This is amazing news because the show will then have more direction! Something that it was especially lacking in season 3 (season 4 was more focused in the first half). He also said that for the flash-forward they had to build this massive set piece. I am intrigued and very excited!! 🙂

My friends and I have a theory (and take this all with a grain of salt since I really don’t think we are going to be correct):
The new kid (Gabriel Maddox) at the end is Bonnie’s kid but he has some sort of Wes connection and will hook up with Laurel. What that is I can’t even begin to speculate.
One of my friends is CONVINCED that Gabriel is Annalise’s child. I kinda hope not.

How many Emmy nominations for the show’s fourth season will there be?

    Realistically:
Guest Actress in a Drama Series: Cicely Tyson

    Possible:
Lead Actress in a Drama Series: Viola Davis
Guest Actress in a Drama Series: Kerry Washington

    Should:
Lead Actress in a Drama Series: Viola Davis
Supporting Actor in a Drama Series: Jimmy Smits
Supporting Actress in a Drama Series: Aja Naomi King
Supporting Actress in a Drama Series: Liza Weil
Guest Actress in a Drama Series: L. Scott Caldwell
Guest Actress in a Drama Series: Cicely Tyson
    – I went with two supporting ladies from the show, but Karla Souza was just as good as them. I didn’t include Kerry Washington. She’d be a deserving nominee, but I prefer Caldwell and Tyson. 🙂

Davis is the most secure for awards recognition for this series with Emmy.

I would still add Glynn Turman for guest actor. And me personally, I would nominate Karla Souza because of 4×08 (which in a dream world would be her tape). She did exactly what Elisabeth Moss did on THT this past week, just that it was even more graphic.

I think season 5 is going to be very good. IMO Season 4 was already a vast improvement over the messy season 3. There was more direction and Annalise had an amazing arc that came full circle at the end. Pete Nowalk said that he already has everything mapped out for this season (for the first time ever), which sounds very promising. When he does a good job, then he does a fantastic job.

Jimmy Smits and Liza Weil would make my year if they were nominated

I can’t wait for what’s ahead for season 5.I agree @Awards Fanatic, I loved season 4, and especially Viola’s arc, and they really handled it well from start to finish. Can’t wait to see what happens to her next!
Yes, when Pete Nowalk is on, he is on!

I’d love to see the show expand their nominations, emmy wise. Liza Weil, Jimmy Smits, L. Scott Caldwell, Cicely Tyson, Glynn Turman, and Kerry Washington were all emmy worthy!

I so agree!! These actors are so underrated. I do think Smits could get some name-check votes. He’s been nominated 12 times so far, the Academy knows and likes him. But I need Viola to get at least one nomination. If she should be so incredibly lucky to be nominated in lead, then someone has to tell her to submit 4.13

I’m actually very surprised Viola is not being predicted more to receive her 4th Lead Drama actress nomination. Let alone her worthiness, as she was outstanding, of course, emmy voters love to vote for what they know. Alot of them simply aren’t progressive enough to vote for all of this “new blood” that could etch her or another perennial nominee from a spot, at this moment in time. At least, not yet.

Guest Actress drama, could go in her favor, or not. However, what helps she and Kerry is not only were they both great in each others respective show’s, it was one of the most buzzed about things on TV. But, I see Vee receiving one more nomination before they move on. But, I won’t be in the least bit shocked to hear her name called nomination morning. I’ll be elated!

Oh, and Awards Fanatic, you can be assured if Viola is nominated in lead again, she will absolutely submit “Lahey v. Commonwealth of Pennsylvania”. That episode was too acclaimed. It’ll be on her radar and the powers that be at ABC’s…

I mean I see why people aren’t predicting, there is not as much buzz for this show like in the first three seasons and the competition is crazy this year. But I was rewatching some acceptance speeches of hers and I realized how popular she actually is. I think that alone, and people maybe having seen the crossover, could absolutely get her in. We shall see.

As for guest, she seems like a typical nominee there IMO but again, the competition is there. I just want Cicely to finally win for kicking ass at 94!

And that absolutely needs to be her submission. I would write Marcus James Dixon if she is nominated since he has a better chance of contacting her. She does have other episodes like 4.02, where she slays in court; 4.06, where she breaks down in front of Roa; 4.08, where she freaking performs CPR on a newborn child and 4.12, where she gets at it with Roa. I thought she didn’t really have a perfect submission last year but she absolutely would have this year.

Btw, if anyone wants to motivate more people to watch the show, you can pitch it here like I did.

It’s very difficult for a show to sustain the same amount of buzz that it once did when it originally started, so the buzz is certainly not as strong as it was once, but like any show, it has developed it’s devoted fan base. However, one thing that remains consistent about the show is that from fan’s to critics, they continually praise, (justifiably so), Viola’s performance. I say all that to say, i’ll never rule out an award’s nomination possibility for her in the role of Annalise Keating, until the show ends. Also, for the reason you mentioned. She has become one of the most popular and well respected actresses working today.

You’re right Awards Fanatic, “I’m Not Her”, “Stay Strong, Mama” and my ABSOLUTE favorite next to “Lahey v. Commonwealth of Pennsylvania” would be “Live. Live. Live.”! She was unbelievably brilliant in that one!
