Just saying British performances Jodie Comer has praised tend to have been nominated at the Emmys (*coughs* Sian Clifford, Paul Mescal *coughs*)

She also praised many times I May Destroy You.

I hope next year her magic “awards-prediction-powers” will work with this show too.October 9, 2020 at 6:57 am #1203768443I Hate Suzie’: HBO Max Picks Up Comedy Drama From ‘Succession’ Writer Lucy Prebble
ReplyCopy URLOctober 9, 2020 at 7:55 am #1203768539Regardless of whether it is an awards player or not it’s interesting how this decade has marked the increasing popularity of the 30min Drama/dramedy format with this, I May Destroy You and Normal People. With dramedies in particular it used to be the case that they’d end up being 45 minute/1 hour format shows (Glee, Maisel, Killing Eve).
I am rooting for Billie to collect her dues everywhere because I’m a massive fan of her performances in almost everything and she deserves recognition for Suzie but mainly because I want to see people rub it in that horrible Laurence Fox’s face on Twitter.

October 9, 2020 at 9:00 am #1203768675What a funny day to announce this! I finished this show a couple hours ago and it’s really really good. Billie gave one of the best performances of the year and Leila Farzad was amazing too, I hope she gets some awards love. I also didn’t expected to be so funny, the dinner scene in episode 5 was hilarious and I couldn’d stop laugh and of course, the shoe shop scene was genius. Anyway, the finale can also be a series finale, which is nice, but I really want to see these characters again someday.
ReplyCopy URLOctober 11, 2020 at 8:12 am #1203771227Any word on an airdate for the U.S.? I saw Billie Piper live in Yerma when the production moved to New York for a limited run, and she honestly gave the best female acting performance I have ever seen. And no, I do not say that lightly and without major consideration of everything I’ve seen.
AGREED! Best live performance I have ever seen. Saw that production of Yerma when it played in NY, and I became a forever fan of Billie’s as a result.

ReplyCopy URLOctober 11, 2020 at 9:30 am #1203771288It’s a Dramedy (like Maisel really except funnier). It gets funnier and funnier trust me. I actually quite like how they balance the Comedy and Drama to depict really how mental Suzie’s life is and how ridiculous she is as a character.
This bit in the car with Suzie and Naomi made me fall off my seat lmao.

October 11, 2020 at 1:04 pm #1203771701Mrs Maisel is a straight up comedy… and it’s actually funny. I’ll continue with this though… taking it as a drama that might have surprisingly funny moments from time to time.

Now you know what I was going on about when saying she was a threat for the awards!

All I disputed was her ability to beat Coel. Hopefully Piper goes comedy at BAFTA and not drama because they both deserve wins.
