I think that it is lame that the nominees for Lead Actor and Lead Actress in a Limited Series/TV Movie do not have to do submissions. Firstly, it is just inconsistent for no specific reason. Secondly, it gives an unfair advantage for Limited Series performers over TV Movie performers if voters are voting based on multiple episodes of a performance as opposed to a 90-minute movie. It made me curious about what this year’s nominees would submit if they had to.
What do you think these nominees would submit for their tape?
    Lead Actor
    -Antonio Banderas – Genius: Picasso
-Darren Criss – Assassination of Gianni Versace
    -Benedict Cumberbatch – Patrick Melrose
-Jeff Daniels – The Looming Tower
    Lead Actress
    -Jessica Biel – The Sinner
    -Michelle Dockery – Godless
-Edie Falco – The Menendez Murders
    -Regina King – Seven Seconds
-Sarah Paulson – American Horror Story: Cult

PS: Unrelated, but something that frustrates me for it’s inconsistency: why are writers and directors for limited series able to submit the entirety of the series if they directed or wrote every episode, and comedy/drama is not? For instance, why is Scott Frank able to submit himself for all of Godless because he directed every episode, while Pamela Adlon has to submit a specific episode for Better Things despite having directed every episode of the season? I don’t know exactly which side I stand on here, but I wish there was more consistency in the rules for who submits and what they are able to submit.

I feel like Darren Criss would submit the first episode or the last one. That’s where he had the most range. But Creator/Destroyer wouldn’t have been a bad choice either.

As for Sarah Paulson, I feel like “Drink the Kool-Aid” was her best episode.

Jessica Biel would submit the finale I think. She has that great scene in court that is also very impactful. The first episode would be a great submission as well I guess.
