MY QUESTION: If the writer of Moonlight created a show following the same premise and overall tone of Moonlight and the show was critically acclaimed and, let’s say, even produced by Oprah Winfrey, would you watch it?

I was waiting a few answers before saying (altho it has been spoiled already haha)… that YES, this show already exists!

It’s called David Makes Man and it even won a Peabody and was nominated for a Critics Choice Award for Best Drama Series, but since it’s on the Oprah Winfrey Network, ain’t nobody watching and so few people even know about it.

It won my personal drama series award last year. Phenomenal first season! I posted about Alana Arenas here before, but I’ll repeat: she’s amazing. Akili McDowell is obviously great as well as the titular character. I haven’t been as enamored with this current season, though. Even think it’s kind of boring a lot of the time. Still has its good moments however, and I do think last week’s episode was the best of the season so far. Maybe it’ll end on a high note! The first season at least should’ve gotten way, way more attention. Ridiculously underwatched. Queen Sugar unfortunately has this problem as well being on OWN. It’s never quite hit the heights of DMM S1, but that’s still a really great show that’s equally overlooked even though it’s created by Ava Duvernay and available to watch on Hulu.
