Unlike the rest of the world, I have not watched a single episode of Tiger King, mainly due to lack of time and lack of interest. Given its recent Emmys nominations, I might now give it a chance, but seeing how much people seem to be rooting for this Joe Exotic guy, even though from what I’ve heard he’s a piece of s&%* trash, I’ve been kind of turned off by the notion of watching it. Plus, I’ve heard some people compare it to trashy reality TV, which does not interest me at all. So, for those of you who have actually seen it, is there anything insightful about and does it actually deserve any of its Emmy nominations? Or am I right to stay away from it?August 22, 2020 at 12:46 pm #1203660880
Only Tiger King would interview from a moving vehicle: https://www.goldderby.com/article/2020/tiger-king-directors-eric-goode-rebecca-chaiklin-netflix-emmy-video-interview/August 23, 2020 at 8:23 am #1203662380

It’s trashy, but it was interesting and enjoyable.August 23, 2020 at 10:53 am #1203662635
I hated Tiger King, but I’m also a huge animal lover so it was hard for me to watch. It also didn’t feel any more special than any other true-crime documentaries. The subject matter’s just twisted, which is why it blew up.August 23, 2020 at 11:43 am #1203662712
It’s not trashy but it’s nowhere as good as Wild Wild Country. Even this year, I found Don’t Fuck with Cats superior to it. That being said, it was entertaining and appreciated aspects like how they pointed out that big cat owners are like cult leaders (Episode 2).August 23, 2020 at 1:16 pm #1203662888
I’m pretty convinced that Tiger King only took off the way it did because of how we are in the beginning of quarantine when it premiered.
If covid hit harder in February would we all be making TikTok’s about The Goop Labs instead?September 13, 2020 at 7:29 am #1203702973
I finally made my Creative Arts Emmys predictions, and out of moral principle, I decided to predict that Tiger King would NOT win its category. In fact, I ranked it in third place behind The Last Dance and Hillary.September 14, 2020 at 6:07 pm #1203706831
Well, Tiger King walked away with zero Emmys tonight. Looks like Emmy voters may have respected it, but didn’t actually love it. I doubt it will win top honors.September 14, 2020 at 6:18 pm #1203706863

I think it’s probably the opposite, they loved watching but didn’t respect it. Fast food TV, palatable to everyone but no nutritional value and definitely not winning culinary awards.September 14, 2020 at 6:22 pm #1203706873
Yeah, but all of the other shows competing against Tiger King in the Doc Series category also lost today. I, myself, am predicting TK for series and I did not predicted a single award today for them.

Who says that they did not pay their crew?
