I was just uploading my predictions for the Primetime Emmys (so much fun, you guys should all do it!), and when I came to Comedy Supporting Actress, I realized something shocking:
Jane Lynch is not in my top 3.
Am I alone in this prediction? Does anyone think she has a serious shot at a second Emmy? Lemme know!
For the record, my #1 is Sofia Vergara, #2 is Betty White, and #3 is Julie Bowen.May 24, 2011 at 4:09 am #221235
No, Sofia Vergara has this one in the bag (as long as she submits correctly). Betty White also has a better chance at winning than Lynch. Although I think Lynch is more likely to be nominated and more likely to win than Bowen.May 24, 2011 at 4:14 am #221236
Lynch still has a chance to repeat if she submits The Sue Sylvester Shuffle (which is in the same vein as her Madonna tape) or Funeral (which shows her dramatic side.) Not counting her out but Vergara and White are ahead of her now.May 24, 2011 at 4:22 am #221237
Lynch could repeat, but I think the Emmy’s response to “Glee” is going to be softer this year. As long as she submits properly, I think Sophia Vergara is the frontrunner to win. Personally, I think it should be Jane Krakowski, who had her best season to date on “30 Rock”, and has a handful of competitive tapes (“Live Show”, “TGS Hates Women”, “Queen of Jordan”, and “Respawn” just to name a few).May 24, 2011 at 4:48 am #221238
I think the buzz over Glee is wearing thin. Chris Colfer is show’s best chance at a win, come to think of it, and even that is not to my personal liking. I’m not even predicting a Lea Michele repeat nomination.
That being said, I do think that Jane Lynch will repeat a nomination. However, Sue Sylvester, as funny a character as it is, is not the kind that warrants back-to-back wins. They’ve awarded Lynch once, and there are so many brilliant supporting women working in TV comedies that Emmy voters will move on.
My prediction: Jane Lynch will be nominated again, but one of the Modern Family women will win. Betty White has played the naughty ol’ lady bit so much that I’m sure Emmy voters will stop at a nomination for her.
My predictions for this category:
Julie Bowen, Modern Family
Jane Krakowski, 30 Rock
Jane Lynch, Glee
Sofia Vergara, Modern Family
Betty White, Hot in Cleveland

I thought for sure people would be fighting against me, but it seems the opposite is true:
Jane Lynch is not predicted to win again!May 24, 2011 at 2:11 pm #221240
While I would prefer a win for Vergara or Bowen, I think Lynch is definitely still a threat to win. She has two great episodes to choose from- the over-the-top Sylvester Sue Shuffle and the manipulatively sentimental Funeral. Remember Emmy voters are easily manipulated, so I think she is a frontrunner of she submits Funeral.May 24, 2011 at 2:37 pm #221241
I agree, I think Jane Lynch could definitely win again by submitting one of her strongest episodes. The competition is stiff, but she’ll get the chance to submit an hourlong episode of more dramatic material in a field where most competitors are on half-hour shows and mostly going for big laughs. Despite the slowing down of the Glee juggernaut, I think Lynch’s chances are pretty good.May 24, 2011 at 2:41 pm #221242
I hope not. Her character and performance has become pretty one note. There are several ladies more deserving (Vergara, Bowen, and even White).May 24, 2011 at 3:08 pm #221243
I think with episode titled “Funeral”, she could win her second consecutive Emmy. She was fantastic in this episode, and she could take it away from Sofia Vergara.May 24, 2011 at 6:28 pm #221244
I also thought she could take the Emmy after I watched “Funeral”, but then I realized this is a comedy category. Has someone ever won in this category for a dramatic performance? I know Supporting Actor, for example, always goes to the funniest guy, but I’m not so sure about Supporting Actress..May 24, 2011 at 7:21 pm #221245
I don’t think she will win since she didn’t have a great season. I think that both Vergara and Bowen both have great episodes with Vergara having the edge.May 24, 2011 at 8:35 pm #221246
I think she will definitely be nominated and even a threat to win if she submits “Funeral” or “The Sue Sylvester Shuffle” but aside from that either Vergara or Krakowski should win, with Vergara leading by a hair.
Honestly, I am a little tired of Betty White fever……(as much as i like Betty White)May 24, 2011 at 8:43 pm #221247
I think that if any Glee supporting actress deserves to be nominated it is Naya Rivera who if get’s nominated stands a chance of winning. She is my favourite comedu supporting actress of the year and you will see her win in my awesome award nominations that come out 21st of june.
