My guess is, it depends on how it is staged, but if they keep the dialogue in it, then I would say, yes.
It may also depend on the definition of “original program” within the Emmy rules: “A television movie is defined as an original program, which tells a story with beginning, middle and end, and is broadcast in one part.”
The only other category I think it could possibly be in is live variety special, but I don’t think it fits the requirements of a “variety program.” Note that “Special Class Program” is no longer a category, starting this year; instead, Variety Special is now split into separate Live and Pre-Recorded categories.April 2, 2018 at 5:54 am #1202522794
