There is a reason I love the Emmys more than the Oscars and that is the boldness of their choices.

Hopefully this is a better ceremony than last year.

FYC Emmys: "The Crown" in all categories, "I May Destroy You" in all categories, "It's a Sin" in all categories, "Small Axe" in all categories, Billie Piper ("I Hate Suzie"), Yvonne Strahovski ("Stateless") and Ruth Wilson ("His Dark Materials")

Everything apart from Kimmel is exciting about this decision

Choosing Jimmy Kimmel as the host is not a bold choice. He was also the host the last time ABC was broadcasting.

I meant the possibility of there actually being a ceremony.

Jimmy Kimmel Live! has been hanging by a thread in the talk series category for years (zero other nominations last year for example) and it looks to hang on for another with this announcement.

Jimmy has it in his contract that he has first right of refusal to host when ABC has the ceremony. He could have turned it down but why would he? Jimmy Fallon and Stephen Colbert have similar contracts for NBC and CBS.

As long as it’s not the other Jimmy, I’m fine with whoever is hosting.

Jimmy Kimmel>>> the other Jimmy and all other prime-time talk show hosts (excepts Trevor Noah). Thank God the show will go on!

Is there a reason known why Fallon turned hosting down the year Che/Jost hosted? Lorne Michaels?

I think Kimmel will thrive in this new hosting environment.

Premature to say that when we still don’t know what the hosting environment will be or what the format is but yeah I kind of agree he will thrive without category presenters running around and a big fancy packed ceremony.

If anyone else has watched clips from his show, you know he has not adapted well to the quarantine-styled shows. He is a stand up and thrives on a live audience, so his show has been a bit of a bore.

I’ll watch for the winners, but not expecting anything groundbreaking or remotely interesting.

    All of this.

Of the nightly late hosts who are still producing episodes under quarantine. The only one whose adapted well and is interesting to watch is Trevor Noah.

Emmys FYC: Alan Tudyk in “Resident Alien”, Billie Piper in “I Hate Suzie”, Ego Nwodim in “Saturday Night Live”, Kaley Cuoco in “Harley Quinn”

“Dickinson”, “P-Valley”, “Pose” & “Superstore” in all categories
