Noooo. RIP!September 4, 2014 at 12:15 pm #331906
Joan Rivers — who made the world laugh for over 50
years with her jokes, put-downs and one-liners — has died in NYC … a
week after her heart suddenly stopped beating during vocal cord surgery.
She was 81.
Joan’s daughter Melissa Rivers took her mom off life support so she could pass comfortably in a private room.
is widely credited for opening doors for countless female comediennes.
She broke through in a big way during her appearances on “The Tonight
Show” with Johnny Carson.
She also famously enraged Carson by accepting a gig to host a competing late night show on FOX. Carson never spoke to her again.September 4, 2014 at 12:16 pm #331907
Joan Rivers. What a force of nature she was. I have said this for years and I stand by it, she IS the funniest human being of all time. No matter if you approved of her sense of humor, she paved the way for so many of the great female comedians that are working today. She will always be an icon. Nobody has ever made me laugh more than watching Joan Rivers’ stand up, an interview, her Documentary, Fashion Police, reading her tweets, reading one of her books, watching her web show. One of the things on my bucket list was to meet her because I loved her so much or at least see her live. People always forget that she was in one of my favorite comedies and movies of all time “Spaceballs” because she wasn’t a movie star but she stole the show in that movie. She is also one of the only reasons why I watched anything dealing with fashion aka Fashion Police. The world will not be anywhere near as funny in a world without Joan Rivers. I’m truly heartbroken….. I don’t think I’ve ever been more upset about a celebrity death. Good god who the hell is going to make me laugh now?RIP…..September 4, 2014 at 12:33 pm #331910
I’m usually not very upset about celebrities deaths, but Joan’ death really does upset me. The only other person I can remember being upset about was Princess Diana. — Joan has actually been such a large part of my life – thinking about it. I grew up with her on E! red carpet year after year. Spaceballs as Dot Matrix was always my favorite character. Hollywood Squares, Apprentice, comedy specials, so many interviews, Joan Knows Best – Fashion Police … Im so sad and I agree, one of the funniest people ever. Yes she was outrageous and nasty and hard hitting but she also was like that with herself and always said shes her first target. So sad,,,
My thoughts to Melissa, Cooper and all her family and friends.September 4, 2014 at 12:42 pm #331912
Joan Rivers was an absolutely visionary. My mother introduced me to her when I was a youngster, and I grew up watching her crass, hilarious humor. She was absolutely amazing and I loved her so much. She was funny, quirky and a lovely soul.
What a sad few months for comedy – Elaine Stritch, Robin Williams and now Joan Rivers. This is actually heartbreaking.September 4, 2014 at 12:46 pm #331913
I really thought she was gonna pull through. She was a tough woman and all.

I am heartbroken. It has been a hellish year for comedic actors in terms of deaths. RIP Joan.September 4, 2014 at 1:14 pm #331916
Horrible news. I was really hoping that she’d pull through. Another comedy legend taken from us.
RIP.September 4, 2014 at 1:22 pm #331917
I love this clip of her. It showed that if you were going to try to knock her, you’d better be ready for whatever she was going to throw back. Just the ultimate survivor.
Oh God can you imagine what she’s saying in heaven about the clothes! “Robes and HALOS??? *mimes gagging*”
