I agree, in general, these chasing the killer shows are just supposed to be miniseries. I was surprised to hear it would have a 2nd season. You can’t stretch it, and Idc if it’s Waller-Bridge we’re talking about. Maybe a 2nd season is plausible, but more than that, no.

I don’t get this, it would have been impossible to have caught The 12 in just one season. There were two layers to the show, Villainelle and The 12. One season would not have been enough to catch both. However I do not want this to go on to a third season unless it shows real promise as a multi-series production. Of course they could have caught Villainelle at the end of this season but that would have made her absence in the second season a problem considering that is where the comedy mainly comes from. I believe that a two-series run will be extraordinary. Ending it with Eve killing Oksana would have been half-baked.

Without Villainelle there is no Eve. Eve by herself would be fucking boring.

Yeah, maybe not boring, because I love Eve, but it is a story about that duo. It’s not about Eve or Villanelle, it’s about both of them.

The guy who wrote the book sees the story as trilogy, and while he won’t be part of the team for s.2 (he wants to finish the final book) I think Phoebe Waller-Bridge won’t be draggin the story for god knows how long. I don’t think it’s her style. I give it max 3 seasons.

But question for you guys: let’s say PW-B will want to do other things, do you think BBCA would continue the show without her?

Given that this is the only breakout show they fully control (the BBC mothership in the UK controls Doctor Who), I can imagine BBCA wanting to ride this for a good long while unless there’s a major sophomore slump or they happen upon an even bigger show somehow. Certainly BBCA will attract a higher caliber of talent due to KE’s success, but they still don’t have a ton of $$$$.

Got around to this and thought it was fine. It’s honestly no different than any of these British cat and mouse crime dramas. The only difference is the “wocka-wocka” tone. Sandra Oh’s role could’ve been played by anyone, but I’m glad that she’s gotten the lead vehicle she’s deserved. Jodie Comer is the surprise here. She does more with that devilish grin actresses her senior does with a dramatic monologue.

I think it’s one of the most original stories I’ve ever seen on TV. More original than most of the pure American shows out there.

The “Sandra Oh’s role could’ve been played be anyone” thing has no meaning in my book. Oh got the part and she was magnificent. That’s all. Comer is new and refreshing, also has a much more showy role, but both women are incredibly strong and their chemistry is spot on! I’d say Oh’s casting is ballsy. Finally a worthy dramatic lead role for an Asian-American actress.

Since I’m so lazy when starting a new show, can someone explain why they love this show (no spoilers please)?

Big fan of Better Call Saul, Sex Education, Barry, BoJack Horseman, and, especially, Survivor

The Emmy nominations that I predict for the show: Drama Series, Drama Actress (Sandra Oh), Drama Writing

It’s the best comedy on TV. It’s funnier than all the top 7 series predicted in Comedy Series. It’s the best show of 2018. The acting is 10/10.

It really is funnier than a lot of the “comedies” in contention and it’s intentionally that way. It also provides the drama and tension and suspense with A+ acting all around. It deals with the tonal differences way better than Barry which I think fails at it but got better as they figured it out as the season went along.
