I was over the moon when I heard Cranston beat McConaughey! Everyone was saying McConaughey was going to win because of his Oscar win but I just couldn’t. I understood Fukunaga’s win; Walley-Beckett’s win made me so happy! I am a fan of True Detective but you can’t ever think that a show where everyone says words is better than a show that delivers perfomances!August 25, 2014 at 8:35 pm #329577
Even though I think Breaking Bad is overrated, I think it makes more sense to have it win over True Detective.

Fukunaga and McConaughey deserved to win. Dinklage deserved to beat Paul. I haven’t followed the Emmys in the past (I’m a Brit), but the impression I got was they just reward the same shows and actors year after year. The love for Sherlock was inexplicable to me. That was the weakest series so far.August 25, 2014 at 8:43 pm #329579
Don’t know if I’m in the minority, but if it’s doing the “anthology” thing, it should be in miniseries….old debate, I know.August 25, 2014 at 8:44 pm #329580
The first thread with The Normal Heart was ok, this one is just unnecessary. Breaking Bad deserved the wins over True Detective and was very much predicted to win them all against that show.
The one place they didn’t win against them tonight was Directing and everybody knew that with Felina in and Ozzymandias out, Directing was not going to go to Breaking Bad.August 25, 2014 at 8:57 pm #329581
Let’s not talk about it.August 25, 2014 at 9:03 pm #329582
I called every single one of these other than series. And I probably would have changed it if I had internet access. I’m not happy nor sad. The right choice won most of the time.August 25, 2014 at 9:30 pm #329583
Am I the only one who actually LIKED the various Sherlock wins (especially Martin Freeman)

Its so simple.Breaking Bad is much better than overrated True DetectiveAugust 26, 2014 at 2:37 am #329585
Loved the meltdown that Duke Silver person was going through. Never saw such a rabid Breaking Bad hater in my life.August 26, 2014 at 4:12 am #329586
All the more reason why “True Detective” should have stayed in Miniseries. Voters made that fairly clear last night. There it would have likely won for Fukanaga over Bucksey, McConaughey in Lead Actor (sorry, Cumberbitches), and Miniseries over “Fargo.” HBO got too big for its britches, and the Emmys shut that down real quick.August 26, 2014 at 7:58 am #329587
If True Detective ios even remotely the same quality next year it will win all the categories it lost. Only two shows other than Breaking Bad won in dramam yesterday and one wasn’t even competing against Breaking Bad. Y’all are reading way too much into this.August 26, 2014 at 4:14 pm #329588
Let’s talk about how The Normal Heart was brutally snubbed last night….August 29, 2014 at 5:34 pm #329589
You mean over the top performances from Cranston (as usual), poor performance from Paul (Dinklage was unbelievably robbed) and annoying and shrill from Gunn. Other than Matthew Rhys (The Americans), McConaughey gave the best performance in any show this past season.

Im fine with BB winning drama, but im not fine with McConaughey losing to Cranston. They are both wonderful actors and i think that BB is best thing on TV ever, but i just think Matthew was a little better, but just enought to win it. Gunn was easily the best one, and as i dont watch Game of Thrones i dont know what to thing about Pauls win cause i hear everybody was so over the moon about Dinklage. I probably am in the minority but i thinkg that Matthew McConaughey is the best actor working now.
