The Plot Against America is now my NGNG pick. It doesn’t seem like too many people are watching, but the people who are are loving it, and in a field where there are so many contenders, that may just tip it over.

Could we get Anthony Boyle in the prediction center for Supporting Actor? Not sure that the Academy will like TPAA that much, but hey NGNG.

Why are people predicting Tituss Burgess when he couldn’t even get nominated in 2019? they don’t care about that show.

Is Don Johnson gonna make it with how weak Supporting Actor is?

Depending on much Watchmen is loved, I wouldn’t shocked to see both Johnson & Adepo make supporting along with TBN.

    The Undoing delayed to fall.

While it makes good strategic sense to hold the show for the fall, it was already completed, so I’m trying to understand the statement that this was “in light of current events.” Is it because HBO decision makers think that the plot would be too triggering?

I think they realized they have too many high profile limited series for this year and using the virus as an excuse. For 2021, they used to only have Perry Mason and Mare of Easttown.

Are you guys considering Normal People at all?

After this early review from Vogue:

    https://www.vogue.com/article/best-tv-shows-2020

A beloved novel almost never makes it onscreen unscathed, but trust in this: Hulu’s Normal People is stunning—sexy, modern, emotionally complex. Perhaps it’s not that surprising that the novel retained its intellect and heft; Sally Rooney herself wrote most of the scripts and teamed up with Room director Lenny Abrahamson and Hettie MacDonald (responsible for the excellent, newish Howard’s End). But credit is also due to Daisy Edgar-Jones and Paul Mescal, the almost unknown leads who anchor this adaptation with extraordinary, fine-tuned performances. On the one hand, the story of Normal People feels almost blindly banal: popular boy and awkward but beautiful girl pair up, boy behaves badly, things fall apart. But these two actors give the show an aching nuance that makes this into one of the most heartbreaking—and best—things you’ll see on TV this year. —Chloe Schama, senior features editor

Yeah, they probably realized that pumping out all of these awards-geared limited series in the past couple months was doing the opposite of what they were hoping for, just resulting in shooting themselves in the foot. Now they’ve cleared the field just a little more, giving their other shows a better fighting chance without canceling each other out.

Why are people predicting Tituss Burgess when he couldn’t even get nominated in 2019? they don’t care about that show.

Partially because I want it and partially because it’s SUCH a weak category now that I could see it happening just because he’s a well-liked familiar name.

They also have Americanah as well. A adaption of the Chimanda Ngozie novel of the same name, starting Lupita Nyong’o.

It’s a HBO Max original / exclusive so who knows how that will affect it.

Unlike FX on HULU shows HBO MAX projects weren’t initially developed by HBO.

Unbelievable and Kaitlyn Dever rise! Hell yes! But I was really excited for The Undoing, so I am slightly disappointed. But my guess is that networks are now going to run out of content for the fall now that productions are being halted.

Emmys FYC - "Unbelievable" and "The Handmaid's Tale" in all categories; Viola Davis in Best Drama Actress for the final season of "HTGAWM;" "Ozark:" Drama Series, Laura Linney (Best Actress) and Julia Garner (Best Supporting Actress)

I had good odds on The Undoing. Ugh. Well, Unbelievable is in now I guess and so is Witherspoon in my predictions. Lead Actor is literally a mess.

I thought we were keeping that talk in the Better Call Saul thread.

Big fan of Better Call Saul, Sex Education, Barry, BoJack Horseman, and, especially, Survivor
